Remember there were 3 roman factions in vanilla, kinda hard to simulate a war when there's only one faction to fight it :laugh4:
I suppose it could be possible by scripting eleuthoroi army spawns and stuff but I can't see it being worth the effort (at least not for the EB team).
Of course I'm not a team member so I can't give you a definite answer but if I had to guess in one word:
No
Sorry
Cheers!
EDIT
Damnit Anubis, you want to do me a favour and wait five minutes until you hit "submit" on your next post so I don't waste my time again? :D

Just relax.... take it eaaaaaaaaaassssssyyyyyyyyyy:laugh4:
it could be nice, if you conquered all numidia gallia etc... that a video starts, and tell you Roma is in Kaos etc etc., and after this very cool video, you find your empire divided in a pair of Factions, and Rome City is a third faction, and a cool screen pop up again saying that now you have to choose wich part of your empire you want to lead, example: a Cesar-like faction, or a Pompeus-like faction. Then you choose, and you now have control of the faction you choosed, and your objective is to destroy the other faction and conquer Rome.
Then, if you choosed the Cesar-like faction and you win, you have a sort of imperial reform, if you choosed Pompeus-like faction, you still have republic and new better old style units available...
Also according the part of the empire you choosed, there are some scripted alliance with barbarians or greek factions etc.
ok that's just impossible, so just speculating a bit.

If only if only...
I tried to make my own civil war in a Kart-Hadast campaign by rebelling half my cities and scripting a load of eleutheroi armies and generals, I don't think the day I spent scripting it is worth the hour or two I spent fighting it though :laugh4:
BTW @ Anubis, 300 posts huray mate! :balloon2: :2thumbsup:

I know its impossible but if that did work then the way to play as Baktria could be playing as the AS until some requirements are met then choosing to play as AS or Baktria.
Obelics, your historical info is inaccurate.
Gnaeus Pompeius Magnus and Gaius Iulius Caesar were both Republicans, even though Caesar had declared himself dictator. We can speculate whether Caesar wanted to be Emperor of Rome, or not.
The war between Marcus Iunius Brutus with Gaius Cassius Longinus versus Marcus Antionus was also a pure Republican War. It wasn't a war to decide who would become emperor.
Finally, only Octavianus "Augustus" was an imperialist. As I said, it is a matter of speculation whether Marcus Antonius wanted to become emperor, but to be honest, I don't think so.

That would be most historically inaccurate. It wasn't like Diodotos Baktrios was Basileus of the Seleucid Empire and then decided 'hey, there's a cute little country, let's run it!'
What would be more historically accurate if there was something like this:
-Baktria is in command of the city of Baktra, maybe Marakanda or Alexandreia-Eschate (little chance though).
-Hardcode that doesn't allow the Arche Seleukeia to attack Baktria, or vice-versa.
-Every turn, Baktria gets some money from Seleukeia to spend on construction, that kind of stuff.
-Finally, Baktria would have the same color as Seleukeia UNTIL they finally really split.

come on Hax, dont try to find errors in every single word, all you sayd i know well, by a lot of years.
It was just a speculation Game-wise.
Hehe, don't worry, I know. I'm just nitpicky today.

There was some talk of revolts and infighting among family members, but without loyalty it would not be feasible. That means we may do something in EB2.
Now, that having been said, the conversation was mostly in terms of the Diadochoi having family members revolt and not much with Rome at all. So if we do implement it don't expect an epic Rome v. Rome campaigns.

That's good news indeed. It really does seem that every time a spoiled little child of the Diadochi didn't inherit the empire he started a new counterfaction
@Abou: Now that you say so, I was thinking maybe something among the lines of a mass Babylonike revolt amongst the Seleukidai perhaps f.ex?
'named_character has_trait "Babylinoke" will_turn_rebel" or something?

Right. And that is something that most people don't realize - mainly because information on the topic isn't as easy to get as for Rome. That is just the reality of it.
I don't think it would be too far off to say that the Seleukids' greatest enemies were themselves. The same could be said for the Ptolemies.

Eh, bit of a stretch by our time period. There were revolts in the decades preceding EB's start (e.g. a Persian revolt near Persepolis), but things were pretty quiet by comparison to other regions. The Seleukids were pretty easy-going all things considered. In fact, there were many strides taken to work with and accommodate the local population from individual city charters to temple architecture. The Borsippa (sp?) cylinder of Antiochos I is an excellent example of this.

Even if EB was for BI, in the current set-up civil wars are still impossible. The BI engine requires a counter-faction for every faction that suffers rebellions. These counter-factions cannot be the rebels, nor can they be shared. R:TR has devised a system to get round that by using batch files so that only the faction the player chooses had a counter faction, but the EB team has decided against that. The R:TR system would also still require one of the current factions to be dropped in order to free a faction slot for the counter-faction.
Ah yes, I was merely giving an example. However, I can imagine when the Aedui have completely taken over Gaul, there would be some form of Arverni rebellion, and vice-versa? Also, this could be intertwined with the respawning factions feature of M2TW

Given that the current starting situation in Gaul is a wholesale Arverni rebellion...

There are no respawning factions in MTW2, as far as I know.

One word: Mithridates. The drinks go down, I stay up. :D
On topic: the civil wars in Vanilla never bothered me. I always spammed enough stacks to not only conquer my envisioned 'sphere of influence' but also, with some active leadership, those of the other two factions also. As soon as I saw my popularity going too high I started prepping stacks to move upon the enemy immediately.
My record was in a Julii campaign when I concluded the factional civil war in two turns flat (one turn to besiege every single factional city with a fullstack, one to assault/fight relief battles and besiege Roma), and one more turn after that to defeat the SPQR elite army and take Rome and become sole Imperator.
It was a masterpiece of long-term planning, man. Brought tears to my eyes to see my mobilisation plan come to fruition. 11 cities under siege in the same turn. That takes planning.

Factions have the possibility to re-emerge if you give them the can_horde attribute.

Oh. I never got into the whole MTW2 modding community, there just wasn´t a need with EB around.
