I have given the subject of arms a good, hard thought these past few weeks. Been reading up on it, thinking about, checking the internet. And I have done a full 180.

I now believe that the right to bear arms is essential for the safety of a free people. Morevover, I think it is essential for a functioning democracy. It is no mere coincidence that America, which has the right to bear arms engraved in the heart of its political system, has enjoyed its enduring freedom for so long.

Hence, I have applied for membership of the National Rifle Organisation (http://www.nra.org/home.aspx).

For a mere $35 plus $10 foreign surcharge, I can support the liberty of America. What is freedom in America, if the right to form militias and to bear arms is infringed upon? What is freedom in the world, if America, this militia of democracy, can not enjoy this freedom at home?

There are countries with fewer guns that have endured their freedom longer. Just thought I would say that.

You're just upset because Frenchies aren't allowed to have guns anymore in case they injure someone.

Anyway, the National Rifle Organisation are just splitters - bah! You should have joined the National Rifle Association...

Huzzah!

Congrats, Louis. I'd never thought I'd say this to a Frenchman, but thanks for helping defend American's right to keep and bear arms!

I am for the right of the population to bear arms. While I think the gun culture in America is a little more extreme than I'd like, bearing arms is the right of the people. I myself like to do some shooting in my spare time.

What is the price of Freedom you may ask?

A mere $35, but $45 if you are outside the USA.

Regardless of your stance on gun control, it's worth mentioning the superb National Firearms Museum (http://www.nationalfirearmsmuseum.org/default.asp) that the NRA runs. It's free, very well displayed, and is one of the most impressive firearms collections I have ever seen. If you're in the DC area, I highly recommend checking it out.

There are many armed militia spreading peace and freedom in the middle east, Afghanistan, Africa... Armed militia are definitely the best way to have your clan defended well against all those nasty other clans. And when you get very, very angry against someone, you can then shoot the :daisy: in the head instead or punching him. Way more efficient isn't it? Especially when you're drunk.
