I'm a huge fan of EB and it's actually the only Rome TW Mod I have on my hard drive. The other mod that I truly love is DLV for MTWII, I highly recommend it especially if you have Kingdoms.
What other mods are you into besides EB?

I play EB and I just recently installed Roma Surrectum, but I might uninstall it just feels a little vanilla after playing eb. Also what is DLV?
Deus Lo Vult, a very difficult mod for Mid-evil 2.

EB!!!!
once in a blue moon I play StarCraft.
Edit: Does Olympic Weightlifting count????

It has a very immersive feel like E.B does. It's not as historically based as E.B but it has similar role-playing features. If you want a challenge with MTW2, I recommend it.

XGM. Too many other mods feel way too much like vanilla, you know? For XGM's lack of hardcore modding, it is almost like an EB light.

Well, I do play Battlegrounds 2 from time to time... but that's a mod for HL2. :sweatdrop: If we're only counting mods for CA products, then no, nothing except EB.
Stainless Steel for M2TW.
Deus lo Vult for M2, and the "XL" mod for Medieval 1. No other Rome mod (or other game mod for that matter) even comes close to EB for me.

Played a bit of Stainless Steel and Broken Crescent for a while, given up on M2TW now though.

Playing DLV actually makes me pine for EBII. Seeing what they did with the diplomacy issues, EBII is going to rock so hard with better diplomacy.

Currently, only XGM. But I'm gonna get EB,and I'm keeping a close eye on a few other in-development mods for both Rome & Medieval 2.

Fall from Heaven 2 for Civilization IV. It makes for a great add-on, because it's practically another game!

EB, EB, EB and EB!!! I have tried every single RTW mod there is, but I still go with EB. Sometimes I do a little DLV, but EB is still King.
For Civ IV, CivGold4.0 ( have alot of my artwork in that), Ionut's Civilizations, and The Ancient Mediterranean MOD.

For RTW? Pretty much anything that isn't fantasy - based (nothing against people who make those, just not my thing). Apart from EB my favourites are
Invasio Barbarorum and mods based on it, such as Riothamus' Dark Age mod and others. But I rarely get any free time to play, so my knowledge of them is still quite superficial.
Since EB 1.0 I haven't played any RTR except the recently released The Iberian Conflict mini-campaign, which I have played too little of, they've really done a nice job with what I've seen of it.
Really like their Carthage units :beam:
Haven't really bothered with any other RTW/M2TW mods though.
Are there any M2TW mods that have significant amounts of new models etc?
Otherwise, I've recently rediscovered Conquest:Frontier Wars with its awesome supply/ammo & big space ship focussed gameplay.
Also playing some CS:Source on local servers that are running team DM with random weapons (which lets me appreciate the awesomeness of some of those guns that I never got the money to buy before because I suck at CS)
besides EB (my all-time favorite), i have other mods installed, but in this period im not playing too much, mod that i play are TIC (great graphic and music, and artistical banners), IB (I love the period of the decadence, always faschinated me, pity it ctd sometimes on my computer), i played also ArthurianTW (I had a great fun with the arthurian faction, it was hard! and the map has a magic atmosphere, as i sayd i love the dark periods, and the cavalry was a power in that mod, your best killing units), I have to try Casus Belli too as i have time.
I dont play M2tw, is it strange? I can play it with Graphic settings at max, but on large size armies (80,75 men), but dont know why, it didn't touched me... and i tryed, i did some campaigns, France, HRE, Venice, but i cant remember anymore when i loaded it last time. one thing among others i dont like are the 2D artworks, family portraits, buildings, GUI, in Game Videos etc... dont know why.
The Fourth Age Total war.
It's the only other mod that feels different from vanila, but complete.
Also it's the only mod that gives EB a run for it's money in the awards:yes:
Roma Surrectum
RTR PE 1.9+ExRM
Both enjoyable in it's own way.

ive tried Roma Surectum, but that just wasn't for me. The rebel provinces being black instead of grey...only ONE celtic faction...it just scared my EB nerdy self away from it :laugh4:
I had Stainless Steel but, as many have mentioned before, I just lost interest in it. I think I'm more into antiquity than the middle ages.
tried tonnes of mods: RTR, 77BC, FATW, ATW, Invasiao Barbarorum, mods for Alex...
my favorites and the ones i still play are only EB and recently released TIC which will have a patch for MP games released soon btw.
also play BC for MTW2. actually the only mod for MTW2 that caught my attention. seeing good feedbacks on Deus Lo Vult will give it a go too.
Invasio Barbarorum is an excellent mod with quite a lot of depth to as well, which makes it very playable after EB. Armenia is an excellent faction and the Western Empire is a real challenge too.

i tried it quite a while ago but thier vanilla style recruitment system with virtually no assimilation requirements put me off. did they change that? i'd get back to it if they did.

Ahhh, there's two of us then. EB and FATW are far and away my two favorite mods. FATW is to the world of fantasy, specifically the Tolkien world, what EB is to the Roman Era.

Make it 3 - FATW is a good mod.
I played RTR before I found EB and it's also a good mod though I prefer EB between the 2. It's still installed, however, and given a test drive occasionally.

Invasio Barbarorum! Excellent mod, highly recommended. If you're looking for a challenge, try the WRE. :sweatdrop: For M2TW I tried Deus Lo Vult and enjoyed a campaign as the Lombard League, but the long time it takes to cycle through the AI factions, even with "follow AI" turned off, got frustrating and turned me off the mod a bit. Makes me a little apprehensive about EB2, also. :shame:

Only EB for me.
Although I want to start playing mtw2, now that I have a new computer and everything.
However can't seem to find any mods similar too EB for that period yet.
Sticking to EB till something that suits me pops up for mtw2.
Broken Crescent looks interesting, but not into a euro-asia map at the moment.

Broken Crescent looks interesting, but not into a euro-asia map at the moment.
It won't ever have a Eurasian map, IIRC it is meant to focus on the Muslim world. I have heard a lot of good things about the Broken Crescent mod as well, including that it is of near-EB quality. Something I might consider trying, do any EB players here have some opinion/recommendation for BC?

Europa Barbarorum rules, but RTR PE + Extended Realism Mod is very good too (v 3.3. is soon to be released).
In many aspects it is quite different game from EB - it does not have depth: long unit and building descriptions are missing and generals have only handful of traits (Roman Cursus Honorum is done very well though) but because of very short background script it runs very quickly and the focus is on battles - and those are tough indeed. If played on H/H, Extended Realism Mod is (compared to EB) bigger challenge for most factions (even Romans!).:smash:

BC atm mainly lacks balance, especially in the campaign map, and the traits/ancillaries field is too "vanillish". But all the graphical stuff is great and overall the mod is enjoyable even right now.
speaking of RTW mods I recommend FATW, a really exceptional work, superb balance, great map, great graphical design, the best music pack, and very stable. Sadly it's somewaht overlooked, probably because most RTW players don't have an interest in fantasy mods in general.

EB and IB are my favorite mods for RTW.
regarding M2TW, I really looking forward for Rise of Empires, The King of Kings and maybe Rise of the Caliphate, they should by the best mods ever for M2

I don't know if you've checked out DLV 5.4 for Kingdoms but those long turn issues have been addressed and it's playing better. The turn lengths are in the ballpark of EB now.
I've got to give fourth age another look. The battles played way too fast for my taste but it was an earlier version so perhaps it's been addressed.

battles in FATW are faster than EB (well I think that every mod has faster battles than EB :balloon2:) but are balanced really well (only the probably overpowered archers are an issue imo)...it definitely has one of the best EDU I have ever seen

Besides EB, I play:
1-IBFD
2-Rio's IBFD
3-Chivalry total war (playing as Egypt right now)
4-rise of persia v2.11 Bab ilu rules!
5-Napoleon total war 2 v .3.6 (or .36)-love those redcats

I tried a bunch of other mods (Rome: Medieval, Roma Surrectum, RTR) but they all fail after playing EB. They all just feel so...vanilla.
Hopefully Hegemonia is up to standard.

FATW is great, I love sending massive amounts of panicky orcs to flood the superior humans. I even like the AI controlling my 2-3 auxiliary full stacks as it controls them according to what I presume are orcish tactics :2thumbsup:.
ATW, great mod with a great challenge.
Played and enjoyed The Long Road for a while but got disappointed in the massive effect the merchants have, they are practically the only game winners. Also the AI takes forever to mount a decent response to an attack, leaving you free to take 3-4 towns before coming at you.

Well after trying some mods like 77BC, RTR ans FATW, I have only EB and the IB group of mods. There is one mod I am waiting to be released wright now, Peninsula Italica, it looks to be a promising mod.
Cheers.
What is this XGM that people speak of?

Is Hegemonia even still active? I haven't heard anything about it in AGES.

It's really nice looking, but really seems like just an all out blitz-fest, cranking out armies and invading left and right. Granted, this is what most of the TW fans seem to enjoy, but I prefer the slower, more strategy heavy "every battle counts!" gameplay of DLV.
out of topic, but will MTW2 let me install without the CD key (recently bought one frm walmart)?:inquisitive:
because its doing so now without it:oops:

Yeah, I think it is still active, but just barely trucking along. It's still something to get excited about, in my opinion.
Recently they've said (as of March 7, 08)
"Well there is no exact release date as such because there are still a few things left to do. But most of the work is done so it should not be too long now!"
So hopefully they're not just pulling our legs...
they said that on my birthday? :laugh4: :laugh4:

I play first strike, a star wars mod for battlefield 2142. It realy is fantastic. Of you interested type "first strike mod" on google.
Fourth Age (FATW) I find surprisingly enjoyable, even though I wasn't really a Tolkien fan when I started playing it. Invasio Barbarorum (IBFD) for those who want a more realistic version of BI, even though the name appears to be a shameless EB rip off; still it is really well done, though not quite as intensely accurate as EB. For M2TW, I like Broken Crescent and Stainless Steel.
