I'm puzzled by these. They don't come from any source I can recognise, either from the Ulster or Fenian Cycles or the Mabinogion. The language used seems to be a strange mixture of Welsh and Irish. Where are they from?

They are under discussion by the EB team and may be revised/removed from later releases. Their inclusion has sparked some heated debate, of which a search will probably yield results.

I think they're great.

That don´t mean shit if they ain´t historical. I think some lines said in Star Wars are great, but that doesn´t mean I want the Carthaginians to start qouting them.
Anyway, we´ve been over this many times now, and as far as I remember it was a very trusted member of the EB Team named Rannika who gave this info from sources that he supposedly had access to through his work, but some people doubt his sources correctness.

that's true...but where did they get these from?

This was only four days ago that there was a thread on this going. You've got all you'll get for now here:

Nothing has changed since this came up four days ago (https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/showpost.php?p=1853813&postcount=36).

There ought to be a bi-monthly thread on the Celtic Cycles, like there's one on the LS monthly.

You know, somebody in the thread 4 days previous said that most of these quotes came from "The Gaelic White Guide". However, I can't find anything on such a text.

Oh well, these are really cool quotes, regardless. My favorite of all of them.

Riadach made a topic here that pretty thoroughly discredited the quotes and their sources. But then the topic degenerated into quibbling and nothing was resolved. I brought it up again a few days ago and i was told it was being looked in to.

Anyways, no matter what you think of Ranika, it's pretty inappropriate to have unverified and unreviewed sources amongst so much real research. Especially when they are so obviously fake. The quotes themselves are so complicated and modern in their vernacular. Nobody noticed that?

I'm sure they'll be gone in EB2.

Complicated and modern vernacular is no proof of anything, that's a product of translation but it is true that the sources for the quotes cannot be verified.

You might want to take a look at the discussion of a very famous quote that was removed from the last version.

Alea iacta est.

I'm sorry; I searched the forums but the previous discusssions either didn't have obvious titles or were too far back.

I'm aware that the EB team are discussing this matter now, and I understand that there are delicate matters involved. However, I have been a student of things Celtic for quite a lot of years and if anyone from the team would like to send me a private message on the matter, I will share my conclusions on what has been contributed.
