“Gen. Ante Gotovina, working closely with American advisers, was the commander of a military campaign in the summer of 1995 that put an end to the Serbian occupation of Eastern Croatia and forced more than 150,000 Serbs to flee towns and villages where they had lived for generations.
Prosecutors at the war crimes tribunal, while not disputing Croatia’s right to retake its land, have accused General Gotovina and his two co-defendants, Gens. Ivan Cermak and Mladen Markac, of crimes including knowingly shelling civilian targets, allowing their forces to go on violent rampages during and after the campaign, terrorizing civilians, and looting and burning Serbian homes.”

But it is NOT political isn’t it? The Serbs won’t be able to tell that only they are on trial… What a farce! The Hague waited for Tudjman and Susak to die the put Croatian Generals on trial… It won’t be a Croatian Birth Sin but just a responsibility of few generals who didn’t control their troops…

I think they rather controlled their troops very well :)

Wiki-biography (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ante_Gotovina) of the General, and his indictment (http://www.un.org/icty/indictment/english/got-ii010608e.htm), for those who want to get up-to-speed on the case.

Kukri I don't think we can use wikipedia anymore. Too many people can change it. Have you heard these rumours about scientologist, american government and rest who were changing everything bad about them.

Hold on there Brenus, if they was waiting to have the Croatian political leaders dead before they did the Croatian trials then how comes there have already been trials and convictions of Croats ......just like there has been of Albanians Bosnians Macedonians and Serbs ?
And there are still more from all sides awaiting trial , in the process of being tried and being sought to be brought to trial .

Yeah, but the big guys got away (Tudjman and Izetbegovic in other case). In the end operation "storm" will be declared police action where unfortunately some crimes were commited, while Milosevic was on trial under legal absurdity of a "joint criminal enterprise"...

Anyway, Hague is a mockery of a court. I would be much happier if Gotovina (and many other Croats) were on trial and convicted in Croatia...

Gal Ante [...] on trial.

:laugh4::laugh4:

Ok... I should probably explain why I find this humorous.

Gal = Crazy (Norwegian)
Ante = Sami television character from my youth.
