I am a little confused as to how this concept works. My understanding was that it is a flat sum of money given to each faction every turn, on top of their actual income from ports, farming, taxes etc. Thinking this, I decided to mod my game (yet again) to give a huge King's Purse income to every faction, enabling everyone (I hoped) to build huge armies of excellent troops, making for some more interesting battles.
In practice, although I now have a huge income from the very start and can build continuosly from every settlement, it doesn't seem to have made much difference to the AI armies; they seem to be about the same size as before. Obviously this makes the game boringly easy and I have thus reset the King's Purse values to their original values.
I am a little confused; does King's Purse income only affect the player and not the AI? Or is it just that the AI is incompetent at using it?
