View Full Version : Are there events for too much money?

I recall that in vanilla RTW there were events which gave bad traits to varuous characters, if the played had too much money. Are there the same annoyances in EB?
And thanks for removing bad traits for higher taxes! :)

And if I may add a question...
Can I actually train Cretan archers? Playing Makedonia, what level of regional MIC would I need? Thus what maximum government? Thanks

I know characters can get traits like "wealthy" and such that I think do things like increase influence and reduce unrest, but decrease personal security. They get them through conquest and looting I think though, not from how much is in the treasury.

Everyone can get Kretan archers with a level 4 regional {not factional} MIC on Krete {naturally ;p} .

Edit : Answering your first question best I can , I have in a Qarthadastim campaign a tresury of over 1.5 million {by 215BC} and havn't yet encountered any adverse effects from it as best as I can tell .

To elaborate on the second question : you cannot retrain mercenary Kretans as they are a different unit to the MIC raised ones {though stats are the same} incase you were thinking of retraining high experience mercenary units . I find Kretians are not worth rushing the building on Krete for .

However , if you can take Mikra Skythia {the city is Kallatis} you can raise Skythian Foot Archers {Skuda Fistaeg Fat Aexsdzhytae} with a level 1 regional MIC {which should be already built I believe} and these have 1/3 more men , only 1 lower attack but with 15 more arrows per man and 35 meters more range . They are the best archer unit in the game as I remember and none have more range {a few equal it} and only horse archers have more arrows per man {5 more , however with twice the men per unit , the Fistaeg Fat boys have 1.75 times the total number of arrows} . They are also cheaper at 243 Mnai per season compared to 258 for Kretans . The moral is only 8 to the Kretans 11 , however I havn't found that a problem in proper use . The Skythians have the hardy trait {the Kretans have only baseline stamina by comparison} .
You can also get there Bosphoran Heavy Archers {Thureopherontes Toxotai} with a level 3 regional MIC whom have again 1 less attack than Kretans but with 15 more arrows per man , 17 meters more range and both better armour {10 verses 6} and shield {2 verses 1} than the Kretans . Moral is identical and the Bosphorans have better stamina by one level .
I find both Skythian and Bosphoran archers vastly superior to the Kretans .

R-MIC means Gov 4? Bah, that means less money. Slingers are better anyway :D Their AP ammo rules :)

That's reliefe. Now I can hoard money... well, I could, but I spent money on army. But I'm sieging three sities, so I hope the army will pay back :)

Yes, unfortuantly there are. The triggers also ask for the personal character of the FM and, I belive, some cultures are excluded. So you will see them less frequent than in RTW, but when they start to appear they can ruin your game; that is if you are a roleplayer like me. I would suggest deleting the triggers when a starting a campaign with a faction that will most likely make tons of money very fast.

No, you can build a level 4 regional MIC under a type III government as well. Incidentally, the western Greek factions (KH, Epeiros and Makedonia) all get Cretan archers under their factional MIC.

Thanks for the additional info.
GovIII for Makedons is ... not very good, too high unhappiness.

export_descr_character_traits.txt

Search for the word "treasury" that will guide you to the "evil" triggers.

But since the Makedones get Cretan archers in their factional MIC (level 4), you should build a type II government. My apologies if this was unclear.

Konny is right, in my Romani campaigns everyone eventually becomces Luxurious, Highly Extravagant, and a lot of other stuff.
Once I had 67 FM´s with the Nota Censoria trait. Really destroys the roleplaying when all you generals are drunken whormongers who couldn´t squash a bug, any less lead an army to conquer the known world.

Yes, with the Romans you'll run into it very fast when using houserules to limit the size of your army.

ASFAIK, the nota censoria is not related to the above traits, but I can't recall the trigger right now.

Actaully I thought nota censoria was linked with those kinds of traits, specifically expenisive taste, Refined/Rarified taste, and Indulgens/Luxuriosus, which as far as I can tell are directly triggered by a large treasury.

These are the triggers:

;------------------------------------------
Trigger ExpensiveTastes_Roman_Nota_Censoria
WhenToTest CharacterTurnEnd

Condition FactionType seleucid
and EndedInSettlement
and Trait ExpensiveTastes > 1
and Trait YearsPassed = 5
and Trait Censor < 1

Affects SumtuariaeLeges 1 Chance 5

;------------------------------------------
Trigger Epicurean_Roman_Nota_Censoria
WhenToTest CharacterTurnEnd

Condition FactionType seleucid
and EndedInSettlement
and Trait Epicurean > 1
and Trait YearsPassed = 5
and Trait Censor < 1

Affects SumtuariaeLeges 1 Chance 3

;------------------------------------------
Trigger Indulgens_Roman_Nota_Censoria
WhenToTest CharacterTurnEnd

Condition FactionType seleucid
and EndedInSettlement
and Trait Indulgens > 1
and Trait YearsPassed = 5
and Trait Censor < 1

Affects SumtuariaeLeges 1 Chance 5

Yes, you'll have much more FMs with nota censoria when you are rich because of all those epicurians and the like that will be breeded. The nota itself is not related to your treasury.

Yeah well that´s kinda what I meant. Big treasury means lots of guys with expensive tastes, which means lots of guys with a note next to their name, a Nota Censoria.
I get this with the Casse too, all that tin allows my FM´s to becom drug addicts and all that crap. That´s why I always try to build everything I can, just to keep the treasury down.
