The death of Lord Omanes and the eradication of his armed forces left the Hellian mountain range undefended, opening the north for the advance of the daemon army. Wasting no time, they entered in strength, over-running the Kingdom of Pellor and butchering the coastal city Naim before a co-ordinated defence could be formed. The details of the three-year Dalan War can be found elsewhere, but to summarize, the leaders of the northern states re-instated the Council of Kings and eventually surrounded the daemon-worshippers on the fields of Corvaar, destroying them piecemeal in a week-long series of running battles and bloody raids, their final defeat [signaled] by the death of the daemonic Warlord Caden. Licking their many wounds and preparing to return to their separate homes, the Council learned of a second army forming in the Wastes, just beyond the Hellian pass. In an attempt to determine the current state of the late Omanes’ castle, a company of soldiers were dispatched to journey in full haste. Ignominiously titled the Bastard’s Battalion, they had already accumulated several footnotes in the pages of history, and some of their members had even been involved in the previous Hellian altercations….

Castle II Rules/Info 1.1

General Rules
Roles
No quoting roles, no screenshots at all (not even of loooongcat), all reveals must be public; however hinting at roles is accepted.
Recap incase the above is missed as per last game; NO private revealing.

Phase Lengths
Day Phases will be 24 hours long unless the world plots to make it otherwise. Night Phase orders are to be sent within 24 hours to reduce Killfr3nzy’s workload.

Voting and WOG
As per usual, votes and unvotes must be bolded (Unvote: TB, Vote: Killfr3nzy), ‘Abstain’ is allowed, but ‘No Lynch’ is not. Extended or frequent inactivity without prior warning or good reason shall be rewarded with suitably embarrassing WOG’s.

Phases
As this game is a bizarre mix of Battle Royale and Mafia, ‘what’ happens ‘when’ shall be laid out below.

Day
First decision here is whether to spend the day hiding out in your room or in the Hall of Judgement where you help decide the fate of the Castle and – perhaps – the world. Please note that if you don’t turn up at the Hall and aren’t in the Medical Wing guards will attack you on sight.

Second decision is what to do in your chamber/the Hall. For example you might shove all your furniture across the doorway to you chamber and pray that the guards won’t find you, or you could sit in the Hall ready to attempt an escape should your name be called out for a grisly death.
Once the elected person has been killed, his body shall be casually searched by the Praetors for quality equipment and money pouch, before being tossed out the Hall of Judgement and into the Pit.

Third is what, if anything, you shall purchase from the Merchant. Remember to have the correct change in hand when ordering your gear; we don’t want to hold up the line now do we?

Night
Nighttime is a much more free time for all you nefarious souls, and is almost completely open to whatever you want to (attempt to) do.
It is, however, suggested you avoid the Barracks, Shop and Lord’s Chamber if you wish to live.

Now here’s an example of some night orders which have been taken from a kind and unknowing donator who probably never thought he’d see these again

here's what I'll do tonight: carefully sneak out into the courtyard, doing my best to avoid being seen by any guards. If I happen to spot a lone guard on my way there, I'll attack him, kill him, and search his body for money and valuables. If I am spotted by a group of guards numbering two or more, I'll simply explain to them that I was trying to watch for any suspicious behavior.

Once in the courtyard, I'll be looking for lone individuals as well. If I see Blah, BlahBlah, BlahBlahBlah, Blah the Third, or King Blah, I'll attack them and attempt to kill them, stealing any money and valuables I find. If I see anyone else, I'll try to keep out of sight.

Map
The map is mainly for Night-Phases, but includes some of the Day areas as well. Doors have various levels of security. The Guest Quarters, Barracks and Medical Wing doors are mainly just for privacy, while the Treasury, Lords Room, Hall of Judgment and Shop doors are equipped with locks and bars.
The corridor leading to the Pit is actually a series of steps, and the shaded portion the hole down from the Hall of Judgment.

NPC’s

There are more than a dozen NPC Guards, all more or less under the control of the Captain. He tells them their targets and patrol paths.

Guard Patrol
Each Patrol consists of two Footmen that walk the corridors at night to keep the peace, and during the day reside in the barracks.
Orders -
- Defend yourselves from all attacks
- Kill ‘lynchees’ on sight
- Break up any fights using as much force as necessary

Praetor
Praetors are elite soldiers, and two of them guard each entrance to the Hall of Judgement, barring the Captain’s own.
Order -
- Defend yourselves from all attacks
- Kill ‘lynchees’ on sight
- Guard your assigned door, keeping all from leaving except at designated times

The Merchant
The Merchant is a canny man, burdened with few morals. He has seen a business opportunity in coming to the Castle, as he provides the sole reliable source of weapons and armour to everyone in it. It is a foolish thief who tries to steal from him however, as he keeps guards around at all times to protect both himself and his wares. He is a player character, the Inventory you see below has the default prices but he who is the Merchant can change them as he wills.

Inventory:
• Longknife 2g
• Shortsword 4g
• Longsword 6g
• Bastardsword 8g
• Greatsword 10g
• Throwing knives 6g
• Shield 4g
• Leather Armour 4g
• Steel;
o Breastplate 4g
o Vambraces 4g
o Thighguards 4g

A fair point Craterus, and I still need another person. TBH I'd prefer Drac or Kommo, or some other random from the first game, but anyone would be fine.
@shlin; we all do it to some degree, but pever seems to make a habit of either trying to break the game or just being inactive in it. The second is easy to understand, but he decides to be inactive before he signs up, taking a spot some other player could enjoy, and perhaps a pivotal role. Also, we had a rage at each other in my last game, as he thought it would fail, and therefore suicided Day One. So yeah, a bit of bias there, but it's a response.

What's that talk about an Andres imposed limit about? Can't find it in this thread nor in the rule and queue threads. Personally I think there is no harm in allowing more willing players in if role have not yet been sent out and the limit (50) has not been reached.

Here (https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/showthread.php?t=68841)

I think they are talking about the longitude of night/day phases who should not be longer then 48 hours at max.

If more players would participate, the hosts wouldn't be able to finish the extensive write-ups required for this game within said time limit.

In the past, extremely long rounds have been proven to be game killers, hence said rule.

Since everybody seems to miss it, I'll just sticky this thread (https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/showthread.php?t=95126)

Oh ok, I thought there was some kind of limit imposed on how long this game is allowed to last or its sign ups are allowed to last.

Double-post, but I'm done. Write-up below, PM's going out (slowly, becasue TB's offline).

Also; Warluster, empty your Inbox if you want a role PM.

Captain Kodus stalked down the rows of tents, heading towards the garish, overly-extravagant pavilion in the centre of the encampment. Isdon and Arthua followed a pace behind, cloaks flapping slightly at the speed of their passage, eyes as grim as death. Hard-bitten men, scarred veterans of the Dalan War, took one look at them and carefully eased out of the way, their faces a mix of emotions. Not in fear, but terrible anger and deep-set sympathy. The latter was directed at the three – the former; those they went to meet.
Kodus came to a halt at the entrance, fuming slightly as one of the Praetorian Guard at the entrance entered to announce their arrival. ‘If they are to hand me a death sentence, could they not at least be quick about it?’ The Guardsman reemerged, indicating with a tilt of the head that Kodus should follow him. Kodus composed himself before entering, gesturing impatiently to Arthua and Isdon as they made as if to follow. Perhaps they could learn more from the men outside, being fellow Praetors – officially at least. Such lines were blurred in the 44th.
The change from harsh humidity to cool darkness took Kodus aback somewhat, and as he blinked to recover he took in the room, noting with scorn the rare pieces of art, exotic rugs, heavy chairs gilded almost beyond possible use – certainly none of the wood remained visible. Scurrying servants here to and fro, catering to the every need of those inside. Kodus had entered the lair of the Council of Kings, and it was as dangerous a place as any other he had knowledge of. Lord Idaelar – the Council’s usual spokesman – looked up, seeming for a moment to have forgotten why Kodus was there.
“Ah, yes, Captain. I believe we requested the presence of the ranking officer of the 44th Vaylen Infantry?”
Kodus gave a quick bow in the general direction of the Council before replying, his face emotionless.
“That would be me, sire.”
“Surely not! Has the chain of command been disregarded so?”
“Nay sire, our numbers have decreased to the point were any higher rank would be superfluous.”
Idaelar gasped, his expression and that of the other councilmember’s changing to what they evidently thought to be one of surprise.
“It is true then; the 44th is all but destroyed. I had not realized the terrible state of your forces, Captain.”
‘It is remarkable that such hypocrisy can reside in such a small man.’ thought Kodus grimly – most of the 44th’s suicidal orders had come personally from the man. But Idaelar, finished with his posing, continued orating.
“Yet we have another task for you and your loyal men. It has become evident the foul traitors to the south” – distantly, Kodus wondered what treaty they could possibly have broken – “are massing for another attack upon our noble yet suffering land, and we must know whether or not your late father’s castle remains open to them.”
Kodus felt rage wash over him once more, and could not keep the heat from his voice.
“Sir, my forces are not adequate for this task. Perhaps with reinforcements from the Wualin 23rd, we – ”
“No other force has so many men that fought in the Battle of Hellian Pass, and none other has so many glowing recommendations from other commanders. No Captain; the 44th are the only ones for this task. We are sure you shall accrue much glory in carrying it out.”
Kodus gave a short, jerky bow, turning to leave, but was halted as Prince Haylen spoke up.
“And, Captain, about this…name we have heard so much of, this title the 44th has gained, kindly see that it is stomped out. It brings shame to your men and the army as a whole.”
Kodus looked back over his shoulder, a smile touching his face for the first time that day.
“The Bastard’s Battalion? Yes, I suppose we aren’t the bastards after all.”
And he left, the Guards parting without orders as the Council spluttered behind him.

Shortly thereafter, as the men of the Battalion made ready to leave, a message was passed from campfire to campfire throughout the rest of the army by word of mouth. The soldiers didn’t understand it’s meaning, but they were willing to do more than that for the infamous, seemingly cursed company.
At the edges of one particular fire, a patch of shadows moved as the man hidden within chuckled silently and made his own preparations.
‘To Betrayer,
We could use a hand.
The Bastard.’
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Kodus stood at the junction of four corridors, waiting with the bulk of the specialists and half the standard soldiers while detachments checked out the three paths ahead. No sign of anyone yet – anyone living, at least. A few corpses had been spotted already, and they were on the far side of the castle; most fighting had been done further in. Reaching for the note still in his pocket, Kodus brought it out and was forced to smile.
‘To the Bastard,
As eloquent as ever, I see.
Betrayer.’
‘Everyone’s back. Just like old times…’
He was still smiling when the screaming started…

Marek advanced cautiously, shifting his grip slightly on the shortsword he’d been issued. It was a shoddy piece of work, but he’d managed to fix it up some earlier – clearly the criminals weren’t worth wasting valuable equipment on. Waiting to be hung for killing a superior officer, he’d been as surprised as the others when the Captain had walked in and given them a way out.
“I don’t care what you’ve done; I don’t even care what they said you’ve done. Truth is, I hear you can fight, and I find myself needing such men. So you’ve got a choice – stay here, and die; or come with me and die. Myself, I believe the end defines a man, but let’s see what you think.”
They were breathing free within the hour.
Marek frowned, glancing back at the pile of corpses they’d just drawn abreast of. Relics of the fighting retreat, they were appearing in numbers now; dry, desiccated corpses collapsed on the flagstones like so much rubbish, great, bloodless gashes telling a mute story of death and violence. And he could have sworn one just moved.
Leaving the slowly advancing group of his fellow condemned, he approached the pile, leaning in close and straining for evidence of a living enemy hidden within.
“Oi Marek, time enough to loot the dead later.”
Looking back over his shoulder, Marek responded with not-inconsiderable anger.
“Curse-damned fool, I’m not bloody – ”
A peripheral glimpse of glowing blue and motion blur was all the warning Marek got, but he hadn’t been a soldier for nothing, and his blade whipped to the side –

A still, dark chamber stretching further than the eye can see, concentric circles of guttering candles illuminating seven cowled men sitting on the bare floor, surrounded by chalked symbols of power. Eyes snapping open, the third from left lifted his head and spoke from the shadowy depths of his hood.
“Outer security wards activated. Begin your preparations.”

– blocking the sword whistling towards his neck. Their weapons locked for a moment, and Marek could hear, as though from a great distance, the sounds of those behind him finding their own opponents. His stood, forcing him back a step, and Marek indulged himself a moment longer, staring at the wall opposite through his attacker’s chest cavity. Screams filled the air as other scouting parties met the enemy, but Marek was preoccupied, looking for an opening to re-kill the one facing him…

Less than a quarter of a bell had passed, and they were fighting for their lives against the combined dead from both sides, united finally in death. ‘And their numbers are growing,’ observed Kodus grimly as he watched one of his men get back to his feet, head held on by a few remaining scraps of skin. Two of the advance parties had returned, and Kodus stood in the middle of the hollow box they’d formed, directing the flow of battle as best he could against an enemy with seemingly limitless numbers and no sense of self-preservation. From last reports the ex-prisoners still held their corridor, fighting like cornered rats. The twin black shadows that were Jaelin and Caelim appeared now and then in the sea of enemies, darting in and out of sight with knives a constant flickering of destruction.
Panicked yells drew his attention to the right flank, and he pushed his way through the over-protective Praetors with bad grace, clearing his line of vision long enough for him to see the flank collapse inwards from the sheer numbers of those against them, forming a new line five feet back but leaving a circle of men to fight unaided, desperately defending the priest there while he chanted rituals of release. Kodus had a split second to worry if the enemy were really as mindless as he had originally thought before his gaze was pulled slightly to one side, as –

The darkness seemed to swallow the words almost as soon as they were voiced, but the message was still heard by the other six sorcerers.
“Vessels in place; eliminating target now.”

– two plate-armoured undead crashed into the side of the circle, battered swords rising and falling, cutting men down like wheat as they advanced upon the still-chanting priest. Men charged from the square, forcing a path through the multitudes to try and save one of their last lines of survival, but they were too slow; twin blades impaling the man even as he breathed the last words of his blessing and every corpse within ten feet collapsed into drifting ash…

“The circle is broken; release the flamers.”

A line of troops to the west burst into flame, and a daemon emerged from them, laughing and casting spells with abandon. The remaining priest moved forward to block the attacks, and suddenly Kodus’ position was unprotected. A portion of reality was slashed open and the next moment Kodus lay on the ground, a ringing in his ears and charred corpses by his feet. Shouting men ran forward and crouched, leveling crossbows at the daemon and studding its upper body with armour-piercing bolts. Staggering back through it’s portal, the red-skinned fiend vanished, reappearing behind the crossbowmen and sending a ball of fire into their midst before expiring.
A portal opened right in front of Kodus, the heat washing against him as the daemon stepped through and he got his first good look. Standing eight feet high, its head almost scraped the ceiling, massive muscles bunching under red skin and pitch-black veins, goat-horned head turning from side to side before looking down at him, needle-teeth showing in a terrible smile. No surprise that through the din of battle and ringing in his ears, Kodus was unable to hear the soft, rapid tread of moccasins on flagstones; but the daemon did, and it looked up a moment before Jaelin leaped into view, tackling it around the shoulders and hooking an arm around it's neck as he slipped off, dragging it down by force of momentum and weight as he sank his longknife repeatedly into the thing’s hearts. The fourth to appear died moments later, falling with Caelim’s throwing star embedded in it’s brain…

“Targets approaching deadzone; commence delaying actions and summon a Triad.”

Caelim went flying as though slapped by the hand of some invisible giant, slamming into the wall and sliding to the bottom. Kodus got to his feet, Praetors keeping an eye out for more daemons while the priest hurried over to them.
“My Lord, we have located the inner chambers.” The man’s head jerked up, eyes staring at something beyond normal sight. “Something stirs; we must hurry.”

Deep within the ever-changing contours of the Immaterium, three swirling streams of thought and consciousness stopped abruptly, chained by ritual and intent. In an indefinably long moment, they became aware of the situation and their task, minds linking and plans formulating. They sank into the darkness of the mortal coil and searched among the flickering light of souls for those with attributes most similar to their own. Baalor was fastest, the blood-thirsty fool signaling across the link almost immediately that he was ready. Ryllaius picked through them with more care, eventually finding one to his liking and easing himself around the man’s soul. Sasaku, unsurprisingly enough, was last – ‘Odd taste,’ mused Ryllaius, noting the victim’s damaged state as well as something else he couldn’t pin down. No doubt it had proved irresistible to Sasaku as well.
“Ready yourselves.” he passed along the link. “We approach the barrier.”
Hiding himself deeper in the shadow of the man’s soul, he prepared himself to resist pain…

Kodus organized his men, holding some in place to keep watch over the corridors leading to the exterior areas while he sent men further in, to investigate and clear the way. The priest was already in the Medical Wing, but had surprisingly few serious injuries – most were either relatively fine or dead. He looked around the courtyard and winced; he’d never expected to wind up here again, not even when forced to return to the castle. But the enemy had been bringing darker and stronger forces to bear with each passing moment, and apparently the blessing of the Lord still stood over this area of the castle – or, at least, it had been re-activated by the priest’s prayers. He wondered what other bad news he would soon be receiving…

Ryllaius tentatively extended feeler tendrils to his unknowing host’s sense, scanning the area and deciding it was time to strike, snatching control from the man and subduing his soul, keeping it to learn how to become – on the outside at least – him.
“I’m in.” he said to the others. “Wait until you’re alone, then take control.”
He felt Baalor mmediately take control of his target, destroying the thing’s soul in an instant. Idiot. His now-physical features creased into frown as Sasaku eased into his unconscious host; trying to figure out what it was that was so disturbing about it. A fraction of Sasaku’s agony backlashed down the link an instant before he was severed from it, shaking Ryllaius’ control over his host for a moment. A chill ran down his spine.
‘Already one of us have fallen, and not the weakest. We’ve been noticed…’

Kodus stood on the dais to be more easily seen be those at the back of the Hall, feeling a bizarre mix of déjà vu and unfamiliarity; he’d been through this before, but not from this position.
“As I’m sure you’ve heard, daemons currently stand amongst us, and we can’t leave here until we’ve routed them out – unless any of you’re feeling particularly suicidal today. Now, I can’t be everywhere at once, or see everything that goes on, so I’m relying on all of you to find out who’s no longer one of us.”
He gazed around the chamber, seeing grim, set faces wherever he looked. At least they saw the logic of it.
“Hopefully we won’t kill too many ‘innocents’ before we’re done.” He sighed; not for nothing would he be called the Bastard now. He’d just sentenced many of his loyal soldiers to death. He just wished it wasn’t necessary.
“Begin.”

Elite Ferret is the Bastard, while Beefy and CR are his bodyguards. The Merchant is Zorg. At the beginning of the game, none of these can be voted for, but neither can they vote.

Vote: The Amazing Me

Zorg
03-27-2008, 05:09
EDIT: Some details changed to reflect the order system.

I'll just sit back and watch then, the first round is usualy a random lynch anyway.

Now onto the important stuff. I have a few buisness anouncements to make:

------------------------------------------

Firstly, we have inventory. As it is near the start of the game weapons will cost you a little more than you might expect, but armour is still cheap. Here is the current set of prices:

• Longknife 4g
• Shortsword 6g
• Longsword 8g
• Bastardsword 10g
• Greatsword 12g
• Throwing knives 8g
• Shield 4g
• Leather Armour 4g
• Steel;
o Breastplate 4g
o Vambraces 4g
o Thighguards 4g

In addition, for TONIGHT ONLY (afternoon shopping) I'm holding an opening sale. Buy one item and get a second item of equal or lesser value at half price! This sale is for tonight alone, so get in while you can.

------------------------------------------

Secondly I am setting up an auctionhouse. If you have any items that arn't on my list (specialist items), that you don't want, you can now sell them through my shop! In the morning, drop off a note to me (or just tell me) saying:

- What the item is [description is also useful].
- What your starting asking price is for it.

The cost for posting a note is 1/4 of the starting asking price, rounding up (to the nearest g). Sellers will remain anonymous. You will also have to leave the item in my care, however to ensure your peace of mind I will give you a deposit of half your asking price on the item [this will not take place if your asking price is ridiculously high].

In my (well protected) shop will be an auction board where anyone can come in and see the items currently on auction (I suggest checking in once a day). Items will apear on the board the afternoon they are posted. If you see an item you would like to bid on than you can tell me what your maximum bid on said item is. All bidding must occur during the afternoon.

Once all bids are in [bidding will last for only that one afternoon] I will auction upwards by increments of 1g from all parties involved until only one is left. During the following day I will PM all involved to tell them whether they won or lost, and the winner will be told how much they are to pay for the item. The seller will also be informed of the amount they will receive.

That afternoon winners can come into the shop and pick up the item in exchange for the asking price. Sellers can also come in and will be given whatever the winner paid minus the deposit they already have.

I'm sure you'll agree this is a fair system and far easier than going to the trouble of finding someone interested in what you have to sell. Note: items which recieve no bids on the first night will remain on the auctionboard until there are bids (at no additional cost) or the seller retracts the item.

For refrence here is a timescale:
Morning (Day X) - Post item to be auctioned
Afternoon (Day X) - Item apears on board, bidding happens
Morning (Day X+1) - Winners/Losers/Sellers Notified
Afternoon (Day X+1) - Buyer gets item, Seller gets money.

So it runs over a total of 2 days.

------------------------------------------

Thirdly next to the auction board will be a notice board. The notice board will be a place where anyone can post messages anonymously. It costs 1g per message per day for a message of no more than 250 words [it will cost an additional 1g for every 250 words over this limit (eg. a 501 word message would cost 3g) . The message board will be open for everyone to see and I suggest that you check it out even if you arn't using it yourself.

------------------------------------------

Finally there are a few rules in reguards to my shop:

1. No violence within the shop, take your arguments outside.
2. No loitering outside the shop, or spying on those who come and go.
3. No trying to sell or auction flasly labeled or fake items.
4. No stealing.
5. We're only open for sale/auctions/notices in the morning and afternoon, don't be seen near the shop at night.

I reserve the right to refuse service to anyone for whatever reason, but breaking these rules is the quickest way to get on my list of banned people. Violence may be used to stop you breaking a rule (a warning will always be given first).

------------------------------------------

And thats it for now. Happy shopping!

Im sorry, I really hope the mafia kill you Zorg.

Killfr3nzy
03-27-2008, 06:05
As a response to Zorg's incessant questioning, I'm popping in to clear up some details which may be a little confusing, and change some things a little.

Orders;
Broken into Night and Day orders, they can be sent in at different times to help you involve things you may have learned. They concern the following -

Day Orders;
Morning, Day X
You visit the Shop to buy, sell, or look around, then continue on to the Hall. If hiding you cannot do this for fear of being attacked.
Midday, Day X
You spend either hidden away or in the Hall. You can send in what to do incase you are lynched, or a specific person is lynched, or someone you may want to attack during the confusion of someone fighting for life. If you are hidden, you must stay in one place but can make any preparations you want there.

Night Orders;
Afternoon, Day X
Another visit to the Shop if you wish, to spend money you may have earned since then or buy things you now realize you'll need.
Night, Day X
Typical Castle I stuff, do whatever your strange little minds can think up, then wait while I try and handle it. ;p
In these orders you must specify if you are going to the Hall tomorrow or not. If not mentioned, it will be assumed you are.

You send Day orders in during the voting phase, and any change in equipment will be in effect by the time of lynching. Night orders are to be sent within 24hrs of the end of the voting phase. Tonight is an exception, and only Night orders are to be sent in.

OK, hopefuly that makes sense, although it demands more activity. If you don't want to have to send in two sets of orders, just lump it into one, but it will make it harder for you to react to events. Make sure PM's are titled appropriatly (ie; D1 Orders, N4 Orders).
Any questions don't hesitate to PM me.

FactionHeir
03-27-2008, 06:14
Within 24h of end of voting phase as in any time 24h-1sec before voting ends?

Killfr3nzy
03-27-2008, 06:26
Blurgh, I'm too tired to understand the question, but as I think I get the gist of it I'll rephrase the above.

Day Orders during the day phase, also called the voting phase. Said phase lasts roughly 24hrs.
Night Orders during the Night phase, which occurs directly after the day phase, and also last 24hrs, after which I can begin working out what happened.

EDIT: YES, Craterus posted! No triple-post for me. I love you, Craterus. Also, I think I was late by an hour, but we'll just ignore that for now...

A verdict had been reached, and there was silence in the Hall as those inside stared at Woden. Most who knew him did not believe he could be anything other than what he seemed; he was a blunt, simple man, prone to speaking his mind without regard to the usual niceties. But their enemies could be anywhere – anyone – and while only half of those gathered had voted, the ‘majority’ spoken.
“Woden.”
The tall, rangy man continued to stare at the flagstones for a moment, jaw working.
“I’m sorry Woden, but it’s time.”
He looked up to the Bastard, seemingly contemplative as two Praetors moved slowly through the crowd towards him. He sighed.
“Yeah, I guess it is.”
In a flash, he’d snatched an arrow from his quiver and sent it streaking through the air, the shrill scream of it’s passing suddenly halted as it thunked into the oaken seat, sunk up to it’s fletching. Unblinking, Kodus regarded Woden sadly even as the arrow thrummed into stillness by his head. They both knew he could have fired a lot faster and with more accuracy if he’d wished.
Spitting through the gap in his teeth, Woden tossed his longbow to the ground, not looking as the Praetor’s drew their swords.
“Make it quick, ya bastards.”
Metal cut flesh, last breath expelled, and body hit stone. It had begun.

Hey guys, thanks for being all understanding like, as opposed to 'wnt stori nao!!1!'. Recent events've kinda knocked me off my game (what I had of it), and I've been unable to write much. I got the plan sorted, and a couple ~1000-word PM's done, but plently more to write. Yes, this means I'm still not done and I apologise to all you eagerly awaiting players (those not eagerly awaiting can just, uh, not be apologised to. That's right, you take that.)
I seriously am sorry guys, and the down-time between phases should shorten, but it's been a crazy couple weeks. My bro bought an apartment, I took an eight-hour sleep because apparently ~5 hours a night isn't good enough, and generally screwed around and avoiding thinking about certain topics. But yeah, early start tomorrow for my ~2 hour test, then I'm headin back home for a solid session of writing, and as for the rest of the game - well, holidays are up and I'll be needing something to stave off the boredom, and if yet more family members die off then, well it'll probably be an accident and unpredictable anyways.

So; patience my minions, patience......

Captain Kodus looked out at the gathered crowd, gaze grim and intent.

"There are a few things to get out of the way before we begin killing each other again. Last night Khamaan was severely injured and currently lies unconscious in the Medical Wing, thus unable to tell us the identity of his attacker.” Kodus paused for breath, thinking on Khamaan’s state. The man’s wounds were indeed extensive – right elbow and knee shattered; shoulder dislocated; and a longknife in his back, a couple inches below the heart. Taking into account the blade and the sheaths on his belt, it appeared that the man had been forced to quite literally stab himself in the back with one of his own weapons.

“Also, Saros has gone missing, while there is one among us who last night murdered some of my men. Might I remind you that doing so is…discouraged, and if caught attempting it you will very likely die. Last, but obviously not least, undead have been found infesting the Servant Quarters, and I suggest you avoid the area as much as possible form here on out.”

Kodus stared down at them, angry at the deaths of his men and the certainty of more before they were through. His hard, cold voice filled the Hall as he intoned.
“You may begin…”

Ok kamikhaan cannot vote or say who injured him as he is in the medical wing but any other contribution is welcomed

Begin day phase 2

I apologize for out of stock items which seem to have disappeared much quicker than I had anticipated. This is mostly due to a very high demand on certain items. To ensure no one misses out, anyone who intended to buy equipment but was unable to should send me a pm stating:

1. What you ordered to buy on the first night exactly
2. What you actually did buy
3. What you were unable to buy

From this I will put you first in line for the item you chose (or possibly allow you to swap to another item) and I will discount you as per yesterdays sale if applicable.

However I'd like to mention that we are currently out of stock on greatswords. And please remember people that steel vambraces and thighguards can be just as good if not better armour than shields and breastplates.

Hmmm... so are you saying the guy Kammikhaan attacked grabbed his knife, got behind him, and then stabbed him in the back? Seems pretty unlikely, demons are supposed to be extra powerful... and from the story it seems the demons are all sorcerers this time, not warriors.

I think Andres is lying, but I will withhold my vote now. Just so you guys know, I may not be able to vote in the phase later, unless the host extends the voting deadline.

I can verify Andres story. Kamikaan was indeed the aggressor in the fight. I was the knight that Andres mentioned calling off some guards. And I arrived as Kamikaan attempted to attack another player who was apparently wearing a grey bandana around his face and carrying a sword. Anyway, Kami was too slow and got his ass handed to him.
The thing is, besides the two combatants, the only other people present were me and my squire, Warluster. That means that the grey bandana man is either Andres himself, or Andres was being very sneaky.

I’ll also say the man who thumped up Kami, be he Andres or not, was present when I told the guards to back off. There were two other people present also, Pevergreen who appears to be one of the criminal soldiers, and a hooded man who Andres claims not to be. It all leads me to believe it was he who Kamikaan attacked.

At anyrate

Crazed Rabbit, I assume your patrolling guards report to you.

I encountered one of your patrols last night.

They left me alone, because a knight, accompagnied by his squire, asked them to. I take it you got that info.

I was not the hooded man.

I'm a friend.
Alright, I was following a Guard patrol around.

a charge was issued as we heard something from the barracks. we charged (me and the patrol.) But stopped as the doors to the barracks were slammed shut. a man with a gray bandanna covering the lower part of his face and a sword hilt above a shoulder.

he had blood on his right vambrace and his leather gauntlet.

We look at each other: "Oh.” The man said. “Are we going to kill each other now?”

The guards were stupid etc. A hooded man comes out of the shadows, seeming like he was a shadow.

They talk to each other: “It appears you’ve caused quite an uproar.”
"Such was not my intent"

Then Teme came out with Larus and told us to stop:
“These men have done no harm that I know of, and Kodus cannot afford to lose many of you if we want to survive this.”

The guards (NPC's) listen to him, so i guess...I dunno.

Other points:
Isdon went to the barracks before my patrol left.
Torax and Nish left the shop with shields
Maze left the shop, slightly annoyed, scrunching up and throwing away a note.
Larus was "slight", while Teme had plate armour.

Thats it.

(Editing was done to make sure KF was happy with everything it said.)

It goes without saying that everyone is an employee of Kodus, but there are some who are not who they seem to be.
And while I believe demons get higher stats than other players, its prudent to believe that their stats grow over time, so they won't likely survive attacking a patrol and several other players at once on N1.
Compare to Castle I where the demons after many days could tear apart several players on their own.
Think of it as slowly taking control of their victims and infusing power slowly. So they are easier to take out earlier than later.

Write-Up;
Once more a verdict was reached, and the Hall was silent, those within staring at one another a moment, confused as to how to proceed. The moment passed, and Isdon crossed to one of the Praetors guarding the exits, giving him instructions in a low tone. The Praetor gave a perfunctory nod and quietly left the chamber, Isdon’s tread seeming deafeningly loud as he walked back to Kodus’ side.
The crowd was hushed still, and Kodus let his eyes roam over them, attempting to scan the churning undercurrents and who was affected how. The merchant Zorg sat uneasily in one corner, staring – along with the guards wearing his crimson and grey tabard – unblinkingly at a man leaning unconcernedly against one wall, head hanging slightly and hair masking his face. Saros remained conspicuous in his absence, and Kodus wondered tiredly if he was a casualty or a threat, while several of those sitting at the back of the Hall had yet to make a contribution though the floor was open for all to speak as they chose.
At that moment the Praetor stepped into the chamber, and quiet muttering finally broke the silence as he approached the pit, stony-faced above his burden; the limp form of Khamaan, broken limbs dangling sickeningly, blood dripping slowly from the hole punched through his back, over his heart. The Praetor reached the pit and stood motionless for an immeasurable length of time before letting his burden fall, crossing himself absently as he turned and walked a few, short steps to stand before the Bastard. He opened his mouth to speak, but was cut off as Khamaan hit the bottom of the pit – several in the Hall twitching involuntarily at the sickening crack of shattering bones. Face still set and emotionless, the Praetor started again.
“He gave me this, just before I did it.” He said, holding out a roll of bandages for Arthua to accept. He finally showed some expression, the corner of his mouth unexpectedly pulling up in a smirk. “Said it was the least he could do.” And with that he nodded shortly, walking back across the wall to rejoin his comrades.
Kodus could only shake his head in disbelief. ‘Soldier’s humour…’

The curfew will be taking place tonight, anyone seen outside of the guest quarters, without my express permission will be killed on sight no matter who they are. The curfew starts at sunset so you may visit the shop in the evening so long as you arrive at the guest quarters before dark.

edit: there is a possibility you will be excused from the curfew if you send me he PM I outlined earlier with those who can vouch for you also PMing me.

I have decided I'd like a PM from all players with details of their night actions (places they were) with the name of at least one person who can vouch for them and the names of people they can vouch for. This should help clear up who was where. If no-one admits to being near the barracks then I will introduce a curfew tonight, restraining all residents of the castle to the guest quarters tonight, with punishment of death.

edit: the people who do not need to do this are: beefy, CR, FH and pevergreen

Why does FH not have to send in his night actions?

because I already know what he did.

@Cimmerian

even the in-game names would be useful. What were the people you saw doing?

Guards changing shift to guard Kodus or something/hooded brown guy hiding near the well i think/maze randomly walking through towards the shadowy pit/someone shouting "with me" at the barracks.

Kodus seems affiliated with Maze.

I should point out that the curfew would take a while to come into effect -ie, so as not to break the game, when night phase begins the guards will begin walking over from the Barracks.

So whats the point fo the curfew?

Ferret
04-02-2008, 09:47
yeah I was thinking the evening phase would be as normal and the first part of the night phase, but after that and you're toast.

So whats the point fo the curfew?

It makes the life of scumbag demons a bit more difficult.

Oh, and the guards may need some time to start patrolling, but others can start their patrol right away.

If you demons want to go out for a walk tonight, then be sure that you're not alone. You really don't want to meet me while you are suspiciously (and illegally!) sneaking all by yourself through the Castle during the evening/early night.

There will be no mercy for those that aren't supposed to be outside :knight:

Ah, crap. Guys, the game may have to be paused for something like three days. Tomorrow afternoon I'm at my Dad's, then I have an all-night LAN (yes, I'm a nerd, I know), and the next day I'm helping my Bro move back in.
So everyone get your Orders in by ~[(time of post)+5hrs], and tomorrow I'll work on them as much as I can, as fast as I can.
If you're lucky, I'll manage to finish them, and you'll have an extended Day Phase instead. Much more productive, I'm sure you'll agree. Either way, I'll be able to tell you guys what's what tomorrow sometime.

In this time and day it should be possible to check your favorite forum while being LANned up :grin2:

Have fun tho.

I think its more the fact that he won't be able to do results at the lan ;) .

I was thinking that if he finishes night writeups and we have the "extended day phase", he could make it not so extended and lynch when the time's up thus allowing PMs for the next night to go in

I'm not actualy bringing a computer, just mai 360. A few times before I brought a lappie but didn't use it, so now I cbf.
But, if I do get the Night Phase done, I'll try and nab someone's computer to do the lynch.

Then you are either:

1. Summoning a powerful demon

2. Creating an imba army of undead

3. Fooling yourself

well if you're planning on doing it anywhere other then the Servants' qaurters then you wont be able to do it anyway. I got a lot of people out tonight so you'd best be very careful if you value your life.
