View Full Version : Rainbow 6 vegas 2
anyone got this/going to get it? The first one was great.
Got it yesterday for the 360.
It's pretty much the same really except you play as a different character that was doing missions during the same time in Vegas making it all connect and thus making the whole terrorist operation alot bigger then in the first part.
Anyway as I said, the game it pretty much the same. Some new weapons, you can now sprint for a few seconds and you now gain exp offline and online.
So if you like the first part then you will like this.
I picked it up earlier and don't think it's that great. Almost identical to the first one which was old when it came out making this seem ancient. I have no idea what is going on with the story, I just run around shooting people and finding bombs.
Multiplayer still has the stupid method of finding a match which always ends up laggy and impossible to play properly plus none of the old maps are still there so I have no idea where to go. I'm gonna stick with CoD4.

Yup. Pretty much yeah. Kind of funny how some mercs have exactly same speech lines that they have in the first one.

Well, I find the story easy to follow. It's just that the storytelling lacks something to get your focus on it, some kind of way. Maybe giving more information out for the player, or something similar. Though it doesn't help in case where the story itself isn't that interesting.

Have you been playing where it gives you three green dots, and it still lags? You can always just host games yourself, that should get rid off the lag for you.

Which character do you play as?
Any standouts among the new weaponry?
You play as Bishop a man/female(depending on choice) that is hunting terrorists in Vegas at the same time as the other guy and then as the plot progresses you find out that it's all connected.
I haven't unlocked all the weapons yet but I like a weapon that is called M483 or something. It's a nice assault rifle that is both deadly and accurate plus looks cool.
However I hope to unlock the L-85 soon
What have they done since my beloved Rogue Spear :shame:

So you can customise your character's appearence at will, then? Sounds cool.

Ah,yeah. That M468 is a nail driver, even in real life.
Hopefully the developers have removed that pathetic M8 carbine, though.

Speaking strictly from shooting my way through Vegas 1,a lot. Games like this are really what makes the new systems stand out the most. Heavenly Sword,Rainbow Six: Vegas, and Call of Duty 4 (Halo what?) all easily far surpass anything similar on previous systems.
Well I would probably like it better if it didn't suck so badly. Rogue Spear was multiplayer heaven, all after that are glorified counter strike. Just bitter :shame:

I have given it another go and found it much more enjoyable. I think I didn't follow the story as I've only played campaign on co-op and it probably leaves most of it out, plus I never listened to the annoying guy talking.
For multiplayer I make sure that there are 3 green dots and less than 10 players and have gotten into much better games. Hosting is still pointless though as no one ever joins unless I have someone else to host it with.

Played it on both the 360 and PS3... prefer 360 as you can log in as your profile, not just guest.
Mindyou Army of Two looks more in line of a co-op game from the ground up (mind you a little bit more hollywood/max payne to it).
Vegas 2 seems to play smoother with better detail on the 360.
It is kind of cool that your style of play will get you better rewards for that style. I really need to work on assault. I get about 7 times as many points in Marksmanship then Assault.
yeah assault is the hardest to get. I have 18 levels of marksman, 16 levels of CQB but only 10 levels of Assault. Just go into campagin and throw grenades everywhere :clown:

I miss a good tactical game with planning and all.

Well since my brother in law had a higher starting XP as he had played the previous version I went and did a few of the kill house. 1 lone wolf vs 25 terrorists hiding around and who respond to loud noises. So I kitted out with two shotguns, frags and incidenaries then went in... got killed by the first guy as often as not. But found some spots that I could not be hit from behind. Lots of shotgun attacks at close range (CQB) and plenty of explosive kills (Assault) later I've caught up on the XP boost my brother had over me. Shotguns still suck, if you miss with your shot, you are dead, and it is really easy at close range to move laterally out of the way, also when reloading you can't swap out to another weapon and shotguns have a really long reload time so I was constantly ammo managing making sure that I listened for movement and then reloaded a couple of shells. Even then the best I could do was knock off 10 of them before they would find a way to get to me and this is only at medium level of difficulty.
maybe you should get the MG36 and the fully automatic shotgun, that'll drop 'em like flies :P
I tend to use a submachine gun rather than a shotgun as on most maps the range gets to long for a shotgun to be of any use.
Personally I have completed all terrorist hunts and the story on realistic difficulty, but that was with some help from buddies, it's very nice having a respawn and three others to cover your back.

Normal kit is submachine gun with reflex scope, assault rifle with x6 scope, pistol with extra large magazine, smoke and either flash or frag grenades.
1) When starting out you don't have access to the automatic shotgun.
2) While I was trying to catch up in XP I was trying to avoid powering ahead in ability so I choose a kit that was the opposite of my normal, otherwise my marksmanship would have speed along and I would have access to even more deadly weapons along my normal play style. Just wanted to rank up to specialist like the BIL.
3) I also want to get the 100 terrorists with a shotgun 'Because I like the sound of it' badge. :laugh4:
Terrorist hunt is much more fun this time around I must say.
The AI while still pretty stupid has improved.
They are more unpredictable now which I like.
yeah I agree, I remeber doing terrorist hunt in LVU campus in the first one, and knowing exactly where they all were. And also knowing that when there is 8 left they will charge you so I just left a C4 in the control room and blocked the door and soon enough, 8 kills.
