Generals bodyguards

If my bodyguards get beaten down, is there a way to replenish their numbers? Retraining doesn't seem to be an option (even at my capital which has the best blacksmith building)

you just have to wait couple of turns and the bodyguards will be replenished..

I can't swear for others, but my own experience is their numbers recover faster the higher your general's influence.

Also, if your general is faction leader/heir they tend to recover faster.
