I think I have retarded Triarii, maybe from battle...maybe from age...who knows, look:

See the retards facing to the left? Not a very effective way to attack someone i'll tell ya :laugh4:

Also, this doesn't just happen to Triarii. It happens to pretty much every unit. The main reason of this post is actually to ask how come this is happening

Thanks :beam:

It only happens to me when they change direction to face the enemy if they get close to a flank.

Usually that is when it happens, but it also happens when I move them all-together. The units you see were moved about 30 meters in a straight line.

It happens with mostly hoplite units as far as my campaign goes. Both my Camillan triarii and my hoplitai have exhibited this extremely odd behaviour. I have no idea why.

Just curious, O True Praetorian, are you using TWFanatic's First Cohort minimod?

I think this is just a weird RTW bug. I've seen it occationally for a long time. If enemies get close, they should turn and face them so there shouldn't be any harm done.

You might find that selecting them and hitting backspace corrects this "backwardness..."

But yes, they do look a bit retarded

RETARD!! (retard is the verb)

@pezhetairoi - Nope im not...but I have been thinking about it since i have to re-install the game (Vista and program files...)

Is it worth it? I didn't know if first cohorts were that important but come to think of it...

first cohorts would be a nice touch...there is a mini mod, that makes javelins stronger, and adds the dreaded 1st cohort..unless you know that already, in which case you can just say screw everything i say...

..Screw everything Ibrahim says..

:beam:

Just kidding. I knew of the First Cohort mod but didnt know of the javelin part to it. I guess ill download it and find out for myself.

it could be two seperate minimods though, the one you're talking about and what I'm talking about (dunno, I'm on LSD 1/2 of the time-too much molded wheat):beam: :beam:

Nope. Best way is to order the units "C" wider space between men and immidiately again "C" for tight formation again. Thus your men start "thinking" about their formation and you can watch them regroup. Not perfectly though.

@Praetorian

The brilliant part about the First Cohort Mod isn't the First Cohorts, which you'll probably never see anyway, but the hoplite and chariot mod coupled with it.

Firstly, it changes hoplite stats so they become much nastier and packs them into an even tighter formation. Also, it makes them charge as an entire mass instead of line by line like the sword infantry do. Secondly, it makes chariots tougher also.

That, I think, is much more useful than the First Cohort minimod. The hoplitai become a lot scarier once you use that mod. Although their frontage decreases as a result, but they are much much more powerful now. Not to mention the hoplitai will adopt an overhand grip as they did in the past.

But many of my hoplites already have the over-hand grip...do you mean all of them?

AFAIK there were two kinds of hoplites, the Hellenistic and the Macedonian "Alexandrian" hoplites...when I made a small "mod" for RTW (it was mostly a personal mod) I made this so, using shield wall since I ran it through BI.exe.

But what do you mean that I wont be able to see the first cohorts?
