View Full Version : Wierd error while loading new map

When I go to load up my my new map into a custom campaign, It does not start, but goes back to the campaign select menu. When I exit rome, I get this message: (Invalid tile of (0,0) for sttlement blank)

Im at a loss as to what to do here. That is the very last line in my descr_strat.

erm not being able to read the show_err message on the screenie isn't helping.....

have a look through that post in the sticky - sounds like message is coming up with something at end of desc_strat - at least one cause for that is mentioned....

I think the error says invalid tile for settlement blank, which means you've tried to place a black pixel somewhere where it can't go (two in the same region would be my guess). Though it may be related to the land mass off of italy, what colour is it in map_regions.tga?

Almost white...kind of a light cream. Ive used it many times with no ill effect.

Thank you. i looked through that and it has revealed my concerns.

*sigh*...now I have to track down an errant pixel...

Huh...I found the pixel, and the map loads. it now appears thatmy problem is the lack of a .hgt. My question is, how are you supposed to make one for an unpatched rtw?

which version of RTW are you running then? I thought only 1.3 needed a .hgt, 1.5 definitely doesn't...
if you're running 1.3 why!

anyway if you do need it you need Alpaca's hgt converter, which would be him

Im running 1.0...

It doesnt need it, but all of my lowlying lands have been made into sea with a strange desert ripple look. Ill get a screenshot.

ah - just change them from 0,0,0 to RGB 1,1,1 (the colour on the map_heights.tga that is)

the hgt converter reads 0,0,0 as land the tga file doesn't

if you make them 1,1,1 or higher it should work fine.
