Sorry if this is a re-post, but I just saw a curious thread over at EU: Rome and tried it out. It's a quiz which tells you which Emperors are you related to by behaviour.

The Roman Emperor Quiz (http://quizfarm.com/test.php?q_id=37384)

At the end I got equal percentages (61%) for Claudius, Vespasian and Augustus, but at the tie breaker, I apparently chose Claudius! I was murdered by my lover, oh noes! Teehee!

Which Roman Emperor Are You?
You scored as a Augustus
You are Augustus! First emperor of the Romans and one of the greatest statesmen in the ancient world. You brilliantly eased the old Republic into the Principate and set the path for an empire that would last for centuries and form the underpinnings for all western civilization. Hail Caesar!
Augustus 93%

Everything else was less than 70%

Quite happy with it, as I can link myself best with augustus when it comes to character and traits. So actually no suprise.

wow, i love this sort of things, thanks it was very funny!

anyway:
You are Tiberius, actually a good emperor in the scheme of things, but eventually you will become hated because you hated yourself and your role. You never really wanted to become emperor, and you never really got what you wanted in life. These unfulfilled aspirations will lead to dark moods and an eventual indulgent isolation on the Isle of Capri.

Tiberius 82%
Trajan79%
Marcus Aurelius 79%

im already looking foreward to that sweet isolation on the isle of Capri...~:grouphug:

Now im very curious to see Teleklos, Watchman and Minime...
i foresee... Teleklos hmm... Nerva or Antoninus Pious, Watchman... Marcus Aurelius, MiniMe... hmmm, Nero or Claudius, dont know why...

Your attention to duty even when the going gets rough has earned you the identity of Marcus Aurelius. A philosopher-emperor, he used Stoic musings to steel his resolve against a hard lot in life. You know few years of peace, and believe the only final answer to the empire's problems is a complete conquest of Europe. Despite this, you are probably one of the most human and thoughtful emperors in the history of mankind. Hail Caesar!

Not bad, but I had the same percent for Tiberius Claudius and Vespasian.

Which is strange:laugh4:

You scored as a Trajan
You are quite fortunate to rank as the emperor Trajan, possibly the greatest of Roman emperors. You have relentlessly expanded the empire and even humbled the mighty Parthian empire. Loved by all, vastly larger than life, you are the model for all future emperors. It is hard to find a bad thing to say about you. HAIL CAESAR!

Which Roman Emperor Are You?
You scored as a Vespasian
Your attention to military affairs and your humble life make you Vespasian, one of the great emperors. Nearly your whole life you have fought wars of conquest or crushed rebellions, and in fact you have earned the empire in this way after the bloody civil war of The Year of the Four Emperors. The empire is in capable hands with your practicality and discipline.

I'm Trajan! I like the way my top choices are all from the time period accepted to be the Golden Age of the Romans. Strange though, I would've thought I would be more of a Hadrian than that, given that I admired the way he travelled to see and administer his empire.

I just would have travelled as a mere rich merchant with a very large guard rather than as emperor, that's all.

It's worrying to see that there's ever that little bit of a Commodus in me...

One of the most curious of the emperors, you have a clubbed foot and stammer all the time, but these have only served you well in avoiding notice. Behind the facade of a fool is a penetrating intellect that will lead the empire wisely. You conquer Britannia, and later the BBC will make a series about you. Your kind heart however will do you in, as your loved wife will poison you for her own schemes.

You scored as a Domitian
Being Domitian isn't easy. The only way you understand how to do things well is by doing them yourself, and indeed you do them well, but the exclusion of important men from the process will eventually earn you your death. You are typical of many Roman emperors: thanklessly efficient and misunderstood due to the machinations of your enemies.

You mean a poll?

That would be nice, but anyways 75% have Traian. They didn't contest very honestly, on purpose or not, as many members are about 16 I think.
It's easy to get Trajan, just pick all "I'm teh greatest conqueror since Conan!"-options.

I, too, got Trajan, which is kind of funny, I've always thought of myself perhaps more of an Augustus-sort of a guy... Time to read more about "myself", now, though, since I only really recall Trajan for conquering the lower Mesopotamia and thus extending the borders of the empire the farthest they were stretched.

I think you all Trajan people, you just compile the quiz like you were playing EB... so it come out all those trajan. I think you should compile the quiz following your sincere soul. For example, i scare knifes, weapons etc. so i dont say in the quiz i will go in war etc. etc... im very weak towards femal fashination, so im sure if i was emperor, id have a lot of courtesan etc. and sure they after a while will start to influence my decisions... :juggle2:

also imagine we all play rtw, now there in those times, there were not computers, so i think a good part of EB forumers, will become Circus and Gladiator game addicted...
I agree that it's silly to "cheat" in order to get some ego-boosting or whatever, but I tried to answer as honestly as possible and still got Trajan, even though my ambitions were sort of balanced between warfare, the needs of the economy, political ambitions and building projects - all while trying not to leave an empty treasury to my successor.

As for the entertainment... I'm just against mindless butcher in all its forms, so if the Roman-emperor-persona o' mine would've had anything to do with here-and-now-persona, he would've hated the Games too. ;)

Being Domitian isn't easy. The only way you understand how to do things well is by doing them yourself, and indeed you do them well, but the exclusion of important men from the process will eventually earn you your death. Dammit! I got Claudius who ended up murdered despite the fact that I tried to be moderately paranoid in the quiz! Then again I am intellectually inclined, wouldn't mix too much with the army and just generally try to be a wishy-washy sorta emperor so I wouldn't end up assasinated. Then again being wishy-washy might be the cause of my asassination! Yes, being an emperor is tricky...

I would've easily gotten Augustus if I had just ticked more of them economic genious boxes, but that'd be bullshit. Travelling around the provinces, some not too demanding statecraft and a wild orgy every now and then would be the essence of my reign.

Heh, I just spent almost half an hour reading all of those descriptions. They are hysterical!!

Anyway, on the topic of the quiz, I wish someone more professional made it. Half the stuff on the quiz is almost utterly irrelevant such as "Do you have personal conversations with Jupiter", which could mean "Do you have personal conversations with whatever deity you believe in" but that is nevertheless irrelevant. The person just put together a bunch of incoherent facts about the Emperors expecting that the stuff they did had any modern applications. A silly quiz overall - I hope none took it even half seriously since the results mey be entirely inaccurate.

Publio Cornelio Escipión Africano Mayor

Ok Chris, actually that period of the roma empire could be considered the time without history. Anoninus Pius (Antoninus the Good) was like Pope John 23rd. He was chosen by Hadrian as his succesor because his nephew, Marcus Aurelius, was very young for government. He chose him because he was old (he was about 50 when was names princeps) and very rich. But he lived 30 years more and the most peaceful government in Roman history. The barbarian nations begged Rome to make them allies and subjects just to have roman peace.

But that period ended with Antoninus life, Marcus Aurelius had to fight everyone around because peace made the most "savage" barbarians think Rome was weak. In my opinion roman history has a steep up, with Hadrian beeing the last emperor of that period, a climax, with Antoninus Pius rule as the plateau, and finally the slope down, with Marcus Aurelius as the first emperor of the decadence.

By the way when Antoninus died he had no money because he used his entire fortune to save the Roman treasury.

If you analize the entire roman history you can see that turning point. Marcus Aurelius was great, but check the rest of the emperors after him. Those are the days of Comodus, Pertinax, Caracalla, Elagabalus, and so on to the end. That is why I say it is a turning point in roman history.

Yes, he did defy the rather short-lived tradition of adopting the successors, picking young people with immense talent, instead of merely putting one's own spoiled son on the throne. However, the plague happened during his reign as well, and that was not his fault.

Aemilius Paulus

Well, neither was Hitler when you really look at him. I mean, excluding his mass murder of Jews, Slavs, Roma, Jehovah's Witnesses, homosexuals, retarded people, POWs, and etc, etc, etc. Excluding his violent rallies, the War he started that proved to be the deadliest one ever, the bombings of civilians, etc, etc, etc. Nor was Quisling or Vlasov, I mean all they did was sell themselves to the Nazis. Caligula was relatively decent as well. So was Stalin.

Yes, that was sarcasm, although one can argue for Stalin and Hitler, saying that they, especially Hitler, were excellent rulers, save for the losing war Hitler began, and the repressions of Stalin. However, I would like to hear some arguments towards Commodus. That he was a mighty gladiator perhaps? How would that make him a good ruler though? I hope you were merely jesting.

desert

I am the best emperor Rome has had!

You Scored as Trajan
You are quite fortunate to rank as the emperor Trajan, possibly the greatest of Roman emperors. You have relentlessly expanded the empire and even humbled the mighty Parthian empire. Loved by all, vastly larger than life, you are the model for all future emperors. It is hard to find a bad thing to say about you. HAIL CAESAR!

A second attempt made me 100% Caligula. Please take note of the rest of my 'top 4':

You Scored as Caligula

Your endearing nickname 'Little-Boots' will become associated with fear and madness later in life. While your reign started out on a good note, your warped upbringing and probably mental deformity will cause you to be known to history as the worst of Roman emperors. You will die assassinated a hated man.

If a friend walks over and closes the window before you can finish, does that mean you're Galba?

You Scored as Vespasian

Your attention to military affairs and your humble life make you Vespasian, one of the great emperors. Nearly your whole life you have fought wars of conquest or crushed rebellions, and in fact you have earned the empire in this way after the bloody civil war of The Year of the Four Emperors. The empire is in capable hands with your practicality and discipline.

I usally try to do as lttle as possible on the campaign map, and instead rule the battlefield with an iron fist. I was there when alexander crossed the indus. I was there at waterloo, when napoleon was defeated. I was there at cannae, when we slaughtered the romans. I was there when el cid kicked moorish butt. I was there at the siege of alesia, where we dominated. I was there with the 501st legion, when we won the battle of geonosis. I was there, standing with my brothers in arms, in the trenches of hoth. I was there, killing mutant bugs, on the planet hesperus. And most importantly, i was there when general George S. Patton kicked NAZI ASS!

I'm quite pleased with my result. I got one of the 5 good emperors.

You Scored as Antoninus Pius

Your attention to good character and stability has earned you your standing as Antoninus Pius. Your long and moderate reign is probably one of the most peaceful epics in human history up to the modern age. It is too bad more emperors did not share your humility.

You Scored as Tiberius

You are Tiberius, actually a good emperor in the scheme of things, but eventually you will become hated because you hated yourself and your role. You never really wanted to become emperor, and you never really got what you wanted in life. These unfulfilled aspirations will lead to dark moods and an eventual indulgent isolation on the Isle of Capri.

You are Augustus! First emperor of the Romans and one of the greatest statesmen in the ancient world. You brilliantly eased the old Republic into the Principate and set the path for an empire that would last for centuries and form the underpinnings for all western civilization. Hail Caesar!
