I have not been able to earn a single florrin from trading with others! I have ships in all areas, I have tradeable goods, merchants, etc. What can I possibly be doing wrong? No, there are no enemy fleets blockading me, etc.
Is trade only available with specific types of boats- or any??
HELP!

I have total control of the medditerraninan, i have several caravels stationed in each gulf, no enemy ships (some enemy ports), and I am sitting on every other port available by neutral and allied forces. NOTHING!

The provinces you are trying to trade with must also have ports.

It's getting warm in here...that must be one hell of an INFERNO!

they have ports, they have ships (unless they are enemy ports - then i sink them as fast as they make them!).
There ships appear to be trading at my ports and other ports in the waters. I am set up relatively the same as any ofc my allies or neutrals.
But I am receiving NOTHING!
I dont get it. I am doing everything by the books standards....

Click the coin on the little bar bottom left of campaign screen then click the trading province you want to check , It will give you the trade income for every province connected to the one you selected. Do a simple test make 3 ships find a nearby port to your province which has a merchant, put 1 ship in the 3 sea lanes between you click the coin stack then the name of your province and you will see if its a bug or not, Remember your province must have tradable goods like silk or furs

Recipe for Trade:

1) 1 Province w. Tradeable Goods

2) 1 Port in SAME province

3) 1 Merchant in SAME province

4) 1 Ship PER "Sea Zone" leading to "Neutral (non-enemy) or Allied" province that ALSO contains a Port. This makes up a "Network of Ships".

5) Wait One Turn, income should commence.

6) Warning: If you are at War, any "enemy" ship placed in JUST one sea zone above will interrupt trading. Income will cease from that Network of Ships.

7) Bonus: Build a Port and Merchant in any province w. Tradeable Goods that borders this same "Network of Ships" and you will receive additional income w/o the need for further ships.

when you check your income, be sure and right click on your trade building and not your port....once you have a trade building the income is reported there rather then at the port.

You got to double check that you have ships in all the sea zones between you, that the port in question has goods for trade (not just resources...), and that you are not at war with them.

Finally, make sure you are trying to access the trade info properly. Click on the coin icon, then click on the port you think should be making money and it will show you a break down of what zones the merchant in the zone is making money from.
