I've read that you can have EB installed on the same PC as Rome Total Realism and that the way to do this is to have two copies of Rome Total War installed to different folders.

Every time i try and install a new copy there's only the option to re-install though.

Do i need to uninstall everything, reinstall from scratch to 1.5 and then copy and paste into a different folder - e.g rename the first installation C:\program files\Activision\Rome Total War RTR

and another that's C\program files\Activision\Rome Total War EB

Or is there some other way i need to do it?

Any help anyone can give much appreciated

What for any "new" CD drive?

1. Install "clean" RTW [sometimes called "vanilla"] somewhere (disk C, disk D ora ny other HD You have in your PC)
2. make some new folders, named "RTR", "EB", "XGM" or whatever
3. Copy all that is inside the "clean" RTW folder and paste it into the previously created RTR, EB, XGM etc. folders
4. In EB folder install EB mod; in RTR folder install RTR mod etc.
5. Now you have multiple installs of RTW and mods based on it, which gives you a 100% sure that if sth goes wrong in any mod, you can erase/uninstall it without making troubles in other mod.

This the method that was discovered long time ago, back in the times of Panzer general 2, which was also multiple-copies-adaptable, which allowed to use several variants of mods for that; the same scheme works fine for Europa Universalis, EU 2, Hearts of Iron etc.
Enjoy!

Copy as in... go to your RTW folder in Windows Explorer; right click it; select copy...

Paste as in go to somewhere outside of the RTW folder in Windows Explorer; right click; select paste....

Meaning: what are you mucking about with cd's for?

Sorry for gravedigging, but one question:

Don't the registry entries and maybe some entries in Rome-files link to a certain directory path? In that case, how would just copying the installation directory work?

Registry entries do use a full path to installation directory, but the game files don't. It works because the game doesn't care where it is.
