I just got a reply from Richie, aka The Shogun, and he wrote me saying that he just got back from an extended holiday weekend, and that he's on the job right away to find out what the heck is going on with the Multiplayer server.
I'm sure he'll be posting up some responses here or at the main site as soon as things are rememdied, or as soon as he knows what the hell is going on.
I hope this helps to ease the plight of everyone here, and assures you all that at least someone over there at DT/CA is on the job and will make sure that things are in order ASAP!
Thanks to Richie for the prompt reply (I wrote him about an hour before I just posted this!).
With any luck, I'll get to see the online battlefield before I retire for the night...

Hach, and everyone else. As anyone who has been around this block as long as I have, or as long as Erado-san has, we can assure you that was a post by an unregistered user (most likely a vindictive prankster who is quite yanked about the game being delayed) who was not an EA Representative or anyone from any of the involved companies.
Rest assured that any official proclamations such as that will come from Richie, the Shogun, and he is of course the EZOp of the Shogun Total War Official Community EZBoards. That means it won't come from an unregistered user who obviously has too much fun signing up a new name for every prank he pulls there.
Hence the need for them to make it required to register before you can post there. That would help, but nobody has enforced that yet, perhaps that will change soon enough.

Just be glad that the folks here at the Dojo have such policies in effect and can easily find out if people are bogus or not.

The current release date stands at June 5th, 2001, as it is posted at most retailors and online game shops.
Until announced otherwise, I will go with that date.
You all should too. http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/wink.gif

the word i got from Babbage's ( a large retailer of computer games in the states) is they are expecting it to arrive june 6th, which corresponds to what the daimyo said. unless ea or ca changes something, then that is what they are expecting. if i recall correctly, ea sends out the pre-orders slightly before they send out to the retailers, but i could be wrong about that, so the pre-orders may arrive slightly before june 6th, but dont count on this.

btw, thanks daimyo, for finding out what's going on. :)

IMPORTANT!!!

There's news about the release date on the official site. Also bad news about the multiplayer-option. It will be available later as a free download!!
