Probably a good patch for the Kingdoms users who now actually get to play Kingdoms with the features that were promised (but were actually broken) when the game was delivered.

It would have been nice however if non Kingdoms users would benefit from several error and crash fixes in that patch as well, but it seems this is not to be.

Any word on whether there will be a small patch to the medieval2.exe for non Kingdoms users as well for the crash and minor error fixes and whether the other bugs in the buglist will ever be fixed?

I'm currently deployed to Iraq, and I'm a big fan of the Total War series. I've been kinda holding off playing for awhile, waiting for this patch, and now that it is out I find that I cannot download it! My internet access is limited to certain sites and therefore I'm having difficulty locating a good download source. I cannot access file transfer sites (Filefront, Fileplanet, etc). How big is this file? If it is not too big, would it be possible to have it emailed to me? I don't know any other way to acquire it and it's driving me mad that I can't get it.

Any help is appreciated. You can email me at dalthius@hotmail.com if you have any ideas.

Thanks so much.

Mike

Nope, they were just kidding. They had to take the patch back down because they put the wrong one up. :laugh4:

And here I was all excited...

And FH has a good point about the main game still not being fixed.

*edit*

Doh! Looks like GTV beat me by one second! :clown:

M2TW grand Campaign is fine then? No need to fix it? I hope floods never perma-damage my provinces then.

Well, we've been waiting for months for you guys to fix the stuff that was advertised on the box. I guess a couple more hours won't hurt... ^_^

I would refer the Right Honourable Gentleman to the following thread: Need advice using console commands (to combat the Natural Disaster Bug) (https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/showthread.php?t=100201)

I've been using FactionHeir's advice and have had no problems in the half dozen or so campaigns I've started since.

I still don't know what the map.rwm file is and does though... FactionHeir?

FactionHeir

map.rwm is basically a file that is generated whenever it is missing and draws from everything within the base folder (i.e. how the map looks like, how many provinces, their names, tags, height map, disasters etc). If you were to keep the one you already had after modifying any of the files, the game wouldn't read them since it still sees a map.rwm present and won't generate a new one (only then are the files read).

Asking customers/modders/community to fix the bugs by themselves is hardly good product service. I paid for the game and I want it fixed. RTW was never totally fixed so I am seeing a pattern here.

Ok, thanks mate. And thanks for the bug work around. It's improved my game experience alot.

As for the patch, great. Thanks CA. Although on the fix list I notice there's no mention of the Apache armour issue. Fingers crossed it's included in 'miscellaneous fixes'.

How do I know that I am downloading the right version? I am downloading now and don't want to install the wrong one.

PS glad that the shadows from trees are now working on DX10 cards

The actual files are still on a couple websites. You can find them with creative uses of google. Anyone happen to download it yet?

I'm afraid to and would like to know if anyone has been brave enough to try. :beam:

The "proper" file is not up. The original ones are. There are 3 depending on your geographic location put up around 9am US CT. Those are still up on mirrors. I was just curious if anyone has tried them and if they work.

Nothing in the patch notes about removing SecureRom when the game is un-installed? I guess I won't be buying Kingdoms then.

Won't happen. Although I don't know what peoples big problem is with SecureRom exactly.
Im just so glad I have no interest in Empire whatsoever. I think you have to be mad to be considering buying it after everything we've been through with Med 2.

Well if a true Total War fan buys Total War games no matter how badly bugged they are and no matter how atrocious the ensuing support is, then nope Im definately not a true fan.

Ive had no problems either and I really do enjoy them. But if you take a look at the bug lists it's quite insane really. The Total War games really are unique and awesome but I could never feel right encouraging this level of support by continuing to buy these products. If Empire: Gold Edition comes out and there are no major issues outstanding I'll think about it. When I buy a new PC :shame:

This thread has seen enough off-topic posts and CA-bashing, I think.
