Seeing as CA bashing is not allowed: Let's give CA as much input on the new (remember the last one?) leaked "unofficial" patch so they can release the real one as soon as possible and the one person that has been working on/testing it since September can get back to real work. Or maybe not. Pic not related.https://img232.imageshack.us/img232/9179/niggastolemybikejn4.jpg

OK I start
1: The Euro patches are half the size of the US patch 114MB vs 210 MB hmmm:dizzy2:
Well Mike Simpson did say that after a while their games turn into spaghetti code. That picture must be something like what the M2TW codebase looks like by now.

Was just reading the other Total War forum and apparently there are two copies of the patch in the US version.

Ah
Well I agree with your final sentiments in that particular thread...
Can't help but think this thread will be closed, but on the off chance it isn't I have a couple questions.
1. Is the patch save game compatible?
2. Any compatibility issues for vanilla MTW2 games between players with the patch and palyers without? I'm thinking of the last patch, where people without Kingdoms had to download the 1.3 patch to play with people with Kingdoms.
I run a couple hotseat campaigns and want to see how this will affect them

Not necessarily, and it would be nice if we had some official response on that.
Letting you play without a disk in the drive, doesn't necessarily mean that the hidden system files that are installed with Kingdoms are removed. Or that they'll be removed when the M2TW/Kingdoms game is uninstalled... which is all that some of us have been asking for.

Whats the name of that hotel & spa resort with free bike hire for guests called??
Umm...my guess is thats the reason they pulled the links. Unprotected game was their running & testing code and the protected code the one supposedly for distribution. A mix up???

I think you're right since the patch is not an .exe file but a folder and you have to find setup.exe yourself

So basically I could have had the patch by now?
Anyone have a link to anywhere I can still get it?

Thank you Sir. Now I can start my Welsh campaign. Hmm which to choose. I don't have the Gold edition but I am in the UK. No standard UK patch. So the European one maybe? Soon find out.

Yeah they probably didn't meant that. Hence they pulled the patch. It was definetely not for public distribution
On another note the patch IS savegame compatible so no worries there.

Is that for a mod, Gaius (and if so, which one)?

The US version, as well as containing slightly differently sized files from the Euro one, seems to have a version of itself nested inside the Disk1 folder in RAR format - which is why it's double the size.
From what I've read, XIII Century isn't any better, there is no campaign map, just the battles, the AI is easy to beat, the pathfinding is pretty bad, lots of graphics errors etc. Well, that's what my favourite magazine says and it gave the game 58% only.
And concerning the CA bashing, it's not going to help anyway, that "we went through a lot" with this game is also a pretty hilarious statement for a 45$ game that's meant to brighten your free time in your safe house on your expensive computer, it's not like we had to climb the Himalayas to get it. ~D

Weirdly enough Blizzard games retail for 45 bucks too and look what kind of customer support they offer. And as to XIII century I am willing to give my money to a new developer rather than spend months being cheesed at this one.
I see nothing of value that can come from this thread.
