this just happened to me playing the italians but it was really strange.

my king had no heirs he just kept on producing females. i had all the daughters going off to marry some prince or what ever but no males were born in time.

anyway my king dies. and i get this message saying civil war.

it gives me the two leaders of each side accept these two leaders have no men or proviences aligned to them. once i click which one i want to side with i go back to the strat map and all my proviences are gone replaced by grey (minor faction) proviencs. i have no armies or generals under my control. they are all grey. the two civil war leaders are no where to be seen.

funny thing is all my ships and bishops, spies etc are still there under my control.

the next turn half of my spies get killed cause of the defences i have in my ex proviences.

i have one diplomat left and send him to the nearst grey army (eg ex my army) and he is currently trying to bribe the army to come back into my now dead faction.

i dont understand, did i lose the game and now im getting the chance to rebuild again ? or is this some kind of bug.

what i dont get is if all my armies and proviences slip from my control why dont i lose my ships or strategic agents ?

anyone offer any insight ?

and what happend to those two generals who were the civil war leaders
wtf happened to them

In case anyone wonders, Lord Romulous is replying from a different thread. Either too many windows open at once, or a weird computer bug. http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/smile.gif
