Maybe the AI discovered more than one holy sepulcher and until they know which ones are fake they need more canons to protect every one of them... ;)
No, afaik this is a known bug that lets the AI recruit more than one of the unique units. Don't know if the new patch adressed this problem.
PS: Until i started playing the campaign i thought they are artillery! You know... canons/cannons... And i always wondered why the holy sepulcher needs a cannon... :D

I hate the AI when It sieges one of my settlements and that 6 times speed is the MAX i can put it to. Really, if they have any artillery (and often not reasonable like a player would - say 1-2 pieces..they'll have like 7 trebs and then an army of crap like town militia no armor - Pavise Xbows..guh) I know that my forces can kill them, its just that i have to wait so long...They need to make a 15 times speed .. or a slider bar like MTW#1 had .
Secondly, I hate the AI for making crappy armies. Just look at HRE, or Milan.. all they make is , Spear-militias and Crossbow type troops, and ofcourse an over abundance of Artillery.. Its really lame to fight wave after wave of the same junk armies, when they could be making much more quality armies.
If you aren't playing Broken Crescent, then i URGE everyone here to try out LTC (lands to conquer, mod) because it makes the game so much better in many ways - oh and ofcourse because Pikemen actually work!!!! and you can Recruit Generals :D - and generals can die more easily , aka ASSASIns - oh and they actually work in LTC !!!!
try LTC , you will be very impressed

@PrestigeX
Lol, I just posted the exact same gripe in a differant thread, and I even recomended LTC as the best mod that helps the AI balance its armies. From what I can remember, I think Lusted, the maker of Lands to Conquer, is now working for CA. Maybe we can expect a major overhaul of the AI in Empires.
I still think that vanilla mtw2 is a great game. I've had fun with it since its release. Once you become familiar with the game though, the difficulty level drops significantly. Those 3-4 stack armies that the AI sends against you used to be fun to defeat. Now they are just time-consuming. I'm really crossing my fingers that CA looks at these issues before the release of Empires. Untill then, play LTC, as it offers a more fun and challenging game then vanilla and most other mods.:yes:
@Andrei
I would get frustrated at an event like that too. Maybe if you reload a save game, and retake the settlement, the elite armies wont spawn. If all else fails, you can roleplay and justify why those armies appeard there. Maybe they will even make your game a little more interesting and challenging.:hmg:

You rang?
And yes I am involved with the battle AI on Empire, I'm the tester focused on it.
Ooooo an CA offical ...now my thread is awesome...but anyway it would be cool to roleplay a difficult battle.
Thx for the idea is there a section for Roleplaying???
