Guys, I just played my first custom battle with EB 1.1 yesterday (fantastic, btw:2thumbsup: ) and I noticed my Greek unit voices where strange... First of all, when they say their names they first speak with a certain voice, second click they speak with a second voice and then try to say the name again but just musters the first letter twice. For example, my Argyraspides said ''Argyraspidai'' and with the second click: ''Argyraspidai... A,A''. It just sounded strange...

You might've double clicked or otherwise caused the game to play the same audio file more than once?

Nope, I get the same with the following units so far: Pezhetairoi, Argyraspides, Hippeis Thessalikoi. Others are just fine.

It's reported before (clipping) and we are busy to fix this but it's going to take a while there are many sound files as you know

But we are busy with it

That's ok, I'm not bothered by this, I'm just stating this so that you could see it. Fixing it is up to you, of course! I'm SO happy about this mod, that I don't mind about something that small. Thank you again, EB team!!!:2thumbsup:

OK, here is the link to the fixed soundfiles. Note that in this compressed file, I have added the following directories: Greek, Greek1, Greek2, Greek3, Greek4 and Greek5, all of them being in the original EB/Data/Sounds directory. All soundfiles, plus the fixed ones, are present in there.

If you find any other voices that have to be fixed (despite Hellenistic units, that is), please tell me so and I shall upload them as well.

Awesome. Please nudge me if I haven't done this by next tuesday, I expect to find some time for it on monday if not before.

Sure. If you want, I can look up the exact soundfiles that are problematic so that we can 'cut down' the size of the file, which already includes both fixed as well as normal files.

I think I know the reason for this. The ADPCM format has a weird addendum at the end of the sound. At the end of the sound, you will hear a stuttering from the beginning of the sound. This was also the case with the vanilla sounds mind you. But you would only hear the stuttering when you played the vanilla voices in an external player like winamp. RTW would "correct" it because the silence time in front and at the end of the sounds were sufficient.

I'm glad there are such resolute and vigilant people in our user base, able to fix things themselves. I really appreciate it. Hope your fixes will be implemented soon! :2thumbsup:

Aha, I see. As for the work, let me just say that EB gives me enough motivation to devote my time to do this:yes:

I think you'll have to do that, sorry. I've heard through most of the Greek (without any number) original voices with Winamp and can't hear what's the problem or how yours are different...

Ah, good that you remind me of it. I just recently dowloaded 1.2 and it seems that the problem is more or less fixed. At least I didn't see the same problem in the Sound file. But I'm surprised no one daid this from the beginning.

Um, well, because I had no idea someone (probably Sassem) had fixed them... Sorry for your wasted time.

Nah, it's ok. Besides, I should have been clever enough to actually check the latest version of EB before even bothering to make this public. Oh well:tongue:
