Here's why. My friend's young yellow beauty, Saruman, gets sick. All of a sudden he loses weight and is always tired. My friend is concerned and gets him to the local vet. Here's the diagnosis:

Sexual OVERactivity! :laugh4:

He just matured and apparently had acquaintance of all feline ladies in the neighbourhood. :kiss2:

:2thumbsup:

We in the Northern Midwest are being overrun by mountain lions. I, for one, welcome our feline overlords ...

Wisconsin cougar. (http://www.620wtmj.com/news/local/16717916.html)

Chicago cougar. (http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/local/chi-cougar-shot-webapr16,0,1215541.story)

What's extra-freaky is that the neighborhood in Chicago where they shot and killed the cougar is my old hood, and the county in Wisconsin where they're seeing the new cougar is ... of course ... my new hood.

Video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qK4rYCQLwJM) of the Chicago cougar.

The mountain lions are having a real tough time of it...I remember that year when we had a string of mountain lion fatalities that was described in that second article Lemur. It was a bit crazy, but we are encroching on their habit and we need to be extra careful when dealing with them. But an interesting thing about the vertical leap. In my opinion, that's how the tiger at the SF Zoo got out and killed and mauled those 3 kids (idiots imho), was that it leapt across the moat and climbed the wall.

And, Decker, I've started to think that you're an image file yourself as well.
:laugh4: I have over 10,600+ pictures saved to my comp as of this moment and I added about 10+ today alone. 1/3 of the pics are of military, another 1/3 is personal pics, the last 1/3 is random stuff...so yea I'm basically an image file in human form ~;)

Life in Montana pretty much prepares you to expect a confrontation of some sort with a Mountain Lion. I've seen several in the wild, all times being completely scared ****less. However, you have to be nonchalant and do not confront them under any circumstance. If it looks like a confrontation is unavoidable (like they want you off of their turf) back away slowly while facing them, and make yourself appear much larger than you are (a jacket usually suffices) while yelling at it. Mountain Lions are beautiful, but deadly creatures (although there are hardly ever any reported attacks, much less fatalities) and the biggest risk they pose to Humans is indeed not the chance of attack, but the fact that many are infected with bubonic plague.

That is all for now. :beam:

I assume in my part. But the disease still covers a fairly wide area.

Nice piks Abokasee!

I don't like cats though. One scratched me in the face when I was little, and my neighbours cat keeps killing rabbits in our garden. How can you even get rabbits in a built-up tenement area completely surrounded by concrete and main roads?

If he starts urinating and drinking a lot, advise your friend to have him checked for diabetes. I lost my best feline friend ever of 15 years to it on August 22, 2005. He had these symptoms.

Decker I have to fight from tearing up when I see your cat--he looks very much like KeenEye did except that he doesn't seem as big and, particularly,as fat! well, at least until he became ill. Gorgeous chocolate brown/black, and not a shred of violence in his Being. The best cat ever. [Sigh.] I miss my lil bro so much ....

Thanks Masamune but thankfully he's in perfect health now. :2thumbsup: He loves being on the lap and licking the salt of our fingers. Today we had some time at the friend's studio. The next time my camera will be with me.

Lemur, I should warn you that there are at least 3 cougars in Walworth county. My parents saw a fullgrown one and 2 juveniles while driving through there last year.

Well then, I guess I may be contracting the black death in the near future. Or be eaten by a hungry mountain lion. Such are the dangers of living in Wisconsin.
