View Full Version : CUSTOM BATTLE
IS THERE AN OPTION FOR CUSTOM BATTLES IN EB 1.1?
1.0 HAD ONE...
Of course. If you're using the trivial script, just start up the Play Multiplayer shortcut.

Two questions: is there something wrong with reading release notes? And with not posting in all-out uppercase? :inquisitive:

There is this key, next to your A button. It's called "Caps Lock"..perhaps an option to start using it.
The trivial script is a script that enables you to swap EDU's more easily.
can you tell me the steps to play a custom battle?
I made some changes in several units and i want to test them...thanks in advance!!!

Holy shit! Just start the game, press Singleplayer, then Custom Battle, and then choose the factions, forces and location. It´s that easy. And yes, I know that won´t give you all the units, but frankly, I don´t care right now.
The default shortcuts used to start EB1.1 use the "trivial script", which is installed during the installation of EB. Basically the script makes things easier for common players but a bit harder for modders :beam:
Whenever you start the game with the trivial script, it backups some of your files (including the EDU) with other files contained in "...\EB\mp game edu backup" or "...\EB\sp game edu backup", depending if you are starting the game as single player or multiplayer.
Thus, if you want to change your EDUs, you have to change the ones contained within those two folders.
Specifically, to play custom battles, you need to change the EDU contained in the "...\EB\mp game edu backup" folder and then start the game as "multiplayer" using the trivial script. Starting it as single player works as well, but some units will be missing.

You don't seem to be the quick to understand sort of person when it comes to anything remotely thechy. So I'll sin against good habits to refer to FAQ/release notes/prior thread (considering it's been done already...) and I will attempt to re-explain... (Please don't whip me for this?)
1) Trivial Script -> Name of a 'script' engine/program which builds a user interface (buttons, chechboxes and the like) to quickly, and painlessly allow you to customize your EB a bit. (Settings, and 'modus operandi' i.e.: Single Player (campaign mode) and Multi Player (custom battle mode))
2) If you install EB and opt to install the Trivial Script, the installer should create 3 icons in your Start Menu folder (either the one for the Trivial Script or the one for EB, which can be the same one if you choose the same Start Menu folder).
The icons are called:
Play Singleplayer (changes your EB to the Single Player modus, and launches it)
Play Multiplayer (does the same for multiplayer/custom battle modus)
Configuration (allows you to manually adjust everything the script can adjust for you)
So it's a matter of either using the Configuration or Multiplayer Shortcut found in your EB or Trivial Script Start Menu folder.
If you use Vista you can simply type it in the Search box inside the Start Menu (which is what pops up if you hit the key with the (windows) logo on your keyboard).
If you use XP it's only slightly more complicated: click All Programs (which you can do in Vista too if you find the search box too slow) and browse the list for your EB/Trivial Script Start Menu folder... There you'll find your shortcuts (recognised by the EB logo)
EDIT: And if you find this hard to do or remember it might be a good idea to copy those shortcuts to your desktop...
