Using Media Player 10, is there a way to turn stereo music to mono?

I think I've asked before, but my old-timers is kicking in and I don't remember what I maybe should remember.

Thanks.

Methinks you're going to need something like Audacity (http://audacity.sourceforge.net/) if you are trying to edit sound files.

dbPowerAmp Music Converter (http://www.dbpoweramp.com/dmc.htm) is the answer to this any other unasked questions.

Free for almost everything, IIRC $20 for more than that.

Thanks, to both of you. I've tried the program Whacker suggested but, apparently, am too stupid to figure out hot to use it.

Let's hope I have more luck with yours. ~:smoking:

When you install the program it integrates with the shell, so that all you need to do to access it is selecting the file(s) to process and right clicking:

From the Channel dropdown list select Mono and adjust the other options to your liking. It's best to keep them "As source" unless you're not willing to modify anything but the channel:

I converted one stereo file into mono, an Olympic performance for the likes of me, but it doesn't play on Media Player now. I'll try it on my Sansa MP3 player.

Weird. :inquisitive:

I'd suggest Winamp for your audio needs though.

I'm following this conversation closely, as I need to do the same thing (so my ipod shuffle plays only - but all - into one ear). I need the other one (ear) to listen for realtime outdoor sounds. I grew up - and maybe Beirut did too - listening to mono radio. So maybe it won't seem too retro to us; rather, a walk down memory lane.

Thanks for the screenies, Mouz; they should be helpful.

Yeah, I grew up listening to mono AM in Montreal. But I need mono music 'cause I was born deaf in on ear as well as just stupid enough to keep losing the little 1/8" stereo-to-mono adapters that plug into my MP3 player.
