Is Broken Crescent supposed to be really that hard? or did I just pick the wrong Faction...

I installed the MOD and started out a Campaign as the "Imamate of Oman" which seemed like an interesting choice.
I could hardly make any money, and before I knew it , 3 of the more powerful factions (Abbasid, Ayyubid, and Seljuk) all started a war against me. Even with early expansion taking over rebel settlements , they all ganged up on me and I was for 3 turns not even able to make any money (negative cash).
I tried to use standard M2TW building strategy of , Dirt Roads, Land Clearance, Town Guard, Market type building, Religious Building (mosque), and then military buildings for my Castles.

The other thing was that my faction was only able to make very very low level units, yet the "bad guys" already had Horse Archers and Heavy Armour Units and just tons of guys... And I was playing on M/M ..

Can anyone tell me some hints on BC, like maybe I am supposed to use different intial strategies or I am not supposed to keep much of a garrison (to get those units out in the field) ?

WOW, those guys sure did make life hard on you.

It may very well just be the way the GC for Oman starts. Aside from capitalising on rebel settlements early, you could go on the offensive against one of the 3 three immediately from the start and try to eliminate one or two of them. Capturing their settlements will more likely than not generate much more income than if you tried to capture a rebel one. Lastly the AI spawns really really kickass stacks at the blink of an eye to compensate for it being dumb, all you can do is try and avoid them, that is if they arent coming for you. Otherwise hold on and enjoy the ride. :clown:

You really are up against a brick wall when you have no income to generate anything though. If you are going to stay with that GC, maybe just sit the seiges out and see what happens, you never know...

Best of luck PX.

Oman is in a tough position, with poor settlements all around and no horsearchers (they might get camel archers later on, I'm not sure).

The Abbasids, Ayyubids, and Seljuks are good factions to try first, as are the Ghorids and Eastern Roman Empire. Eventually after playing BC a bit you start to get into a rhythm and even the hard factions become doable.

Hey all,

I installed the 1.05 patch, and then I started out a campaing as the Abbasids.

Baghdad is making like 17000 or so right now, and i'm on turn 40 or something..

My armies are Steamrolling the Seljuks and anyone else who stands in my way - it feels like i'm playing as HRE or something lol.. not just because both factions are black-flag , but because you start in the middle and can Kick-ASS

I especially like the spawned stacks of doom. Nice touch, guys!

Nothing like assaulting an empty castle with no way in or out when the gods of war decide to open a crack in the earth and churn forth demon spawn from satan himself for you to fight. Take Constantinople this turn? Sure... just don't forget to die a horrible, horrible death in your futile attempt to do so.

sigh, i wish i had gotten BC to work. Those kinds of tough situations are exactly what i need to play again

did you need some help installing it properly? Don't give up! This mod is well worth it, and before I downloaded it I was one of those "I'll never mod my game" people.

i tried loads of times to get it to work, i was really confused with the patch, thats what killed me. I asked for instructions but for someone like me it has to be extremely clear and detailed lol, either way i never figured it out and so i missed out on BC

To be honest, that's exactly what happened to me. I am willing to volunteer to help you out.

I'm not exactly computer literate, but I got it to work just fine. Private message me for details.
