I tried a search on this topic but I didn't find anything for version 1.1 so here goes.

Has anyone else had problems with Seleucid family members becoming invisible while they siege your cities? It's impossible to sally, and they just siege you until the settlement falls. It's happened to me twice now, in two different campaigns.

In the first campaign I was playing Baktria and the invisible Seleucid FM attacked my capital Baktria. He was standing right outside the Southwest corner of the city, where there is a little gap in the rivers. After some turns, I lost the city because I couldn't sally.

The second time it happened I had started a new Koinon Hellenon campaign. Some 5-10 years into the campaign, Halicarnassus rebelled to my side, and all of a sudden I was at war with Seleucids (with whom I had previously negotiated a peace). I installed a type 4 government in Halicarnassus to be able to build it up as quickly as possible. A few turns later, an invisible Seleucid stack was laying siege to Halicarnassus and there was nothing I could do. Lost the city after 3 or 4 turns when they couldn't hold out any longer. After the city is occupied, I see a Seleucid family member standing "on top" of the city on the campaign map, and later I find him normally inside. I should add here that while the invisible army was sieging, I tried reloading the game. That allowed me to that the siegers were standing on the Northeast side of Halicarnassus, but as I tried to sally, they became invisible again.

At this point i'm rather pissed off with the Seleucids so I've decided I'm going to leave the romans alone and instead kick Seleucid ass. The cheating bastards. :D

Anyway, is this a known bug and if so is there a fix for it? I read in the older threads that it might have to do with disasters killing family members who then turned into ghosts, or something? But I thought that was fixed by now?

During my current Pontos-Campaign I saw a Ghost Seleukid too. He was standing near Mazaka and became visible for a short glimpse while scrolling accidently over him. I tried to attack him with with my Garrision but it was not possible. Anyway, in the next he escaped into Seleukid Territory and vanished there, so I played on without saving the game, which could have been helpful.

Okay.. trying to take the settlement back results in a CTD. I suspect it has something to do with the animation when the invisible family member dies. The ghost Seleucid in question is named Artaxias Sophenikos and he's 59 years old at this point, which is 251 BC.

Here is the save game, right before i try to retake the settlement causing the CTD.

Oh, and i'm running EB 1.1 with the BI .exe and I've installed all the 1.1 fixes that's come out.

Hmm. A. Sophenikos is IIRC one of the Client Rulers getting the Impostor trait... By any chance: have you not applied the fix for the Impostor Clients, yet?

I've had a similar problem with this, although as MY faction.

I was playing the Casse, and I was roleplaying that my greek General defending massilia got Reeincforcements, so I moved a Client ruler from Caern-Brigante to the Cape near sparta to recruit mercenaries, when I got there he was invisible(but still clickable) to fix it I simply built a fort and moved out.

Unless we get a hotseat mod like RTR did I don't think we could fix it that way, if its the same problem.

I have applied that fix as well, and before I started the Koinon Hellenon campaign. The first time the bug happened (in the Bactria campaign) I didn't have the imposter fix, but at that time I also didn't get a look at who the family member was. Wouldn't surprise me if it was a client ruler too though.

Could it be that there's something else (i.e. not to do with imposter trait) that's wrong with the client rulers now that they've been given movement?

This sounds really weird. Have you tried to take control over AS and seen what you can do with the guy (control romans_julii in the console)?

You can do that?

Oh wow

EDIT:Not working :(

That has to be done from a script.

Open the file Data\scripts\show_me\genericScript.txt. Add a line after the text "script" and type in

console_command control romans_julii

Save the file and restart the game. Hit F1 and click the "?" on the scroll which appears. The advisor will now pop up: click the "Show me how" button. The AI will run through the turns of all the factions until the AS turn begins.

Wow, no I haven't tried that. I'm something of a newbie when it comes to the wiring behind the game, so to speak. I'll try this tomorrow and see what happens.

It worked! The AI let me take over the Seleuicids in place of my own greeks, and once it became Selecuid turn I moved Artaxias Sophenikos out of Halikarnassus. Once I had done that and I targetted the city again, he turned invisible once again, and DIED! I could only tell he died because of the "argh" sound and the animation of him falling to the ground, once again visible.

The strange thing is that I could move him out of the city at all, since my greek army had it under siege. Ah well, i made a new save and will now remove the line in the script file to see if i get to play my greeks again with the ghost Seleucid all gone. :)

Thanks for all the help so far!

EDIT: Ah.. I am now stuck as the Seleucuids! :laugh4: I imagine I have to run the script again to change myself back to Koinon Hellenon? So, um... what's the script-name for my good old greeks then? And is there some way I can turn off the perfect spy thing too while I change back?

EDIT 2: Being impatient.. I looked around in various desc files and such.. and found something called greek_cities. Going to try it!

EDIT 3: Success! I am now back as my greeks, and even though I lost a family member in the battle, I retook Halikarnassos and I will never let go of it again, muahahaa! Oh and for anyone else who tries this; not that it matters other than aestetichally, but the faction symbol button in the lower right corner won't reset itself until you exit the game and open that campaign again. It seems it's the loading up of the game that sets it.

Great to hear that! I have no idea how the situation could have emerged though, but good to know you managed to get around it :2thumbsup:.
