An idea i have had for ages, noidea whether its been bought up before. If you build a town garrison in a settlement, why shouldnt the city automatically get a unit in the city? Is this possible? If it is maybe an unofficial mod would do it? thanks

Not possible. The RTW engine doesn't work that way.

Yes it is possible.
It would need a code for every town and every faction.
Would be cool if it could be built into a garrison script ie better/more units for having a garrison building :)
(For those not familiar, a garrison script spawns some milita type units for the defenders when a town is besieged & the EB guys have looked at doing it but for various reasons haven't implemented.
The M2TW engine which EB2 is being built on allows for a number of garrison troops to be free upkeep & makes some of the scripting easier so there should be bigger garrisons already & maybe some of the scripting related problems will allow a garrison script?)
I've often thought about this as well.
One idea, perhaps, could be to have it so that the crappiest of the faction's levy troops (just one unit) are made available through the Garrison buildings rather than the MICs?
Thats a good idea Gothic! Especially as the other one seems like a hellva lot of work and effort for somethign so small. Unfortunately i just....cant... mod lol, but if someone is willing to give it a go, it would be great!
Or, you can represent this by recruiting a unit at the same time as you create the garrison building and always keep it there. As far as I see it, there is no reason to create this functionality, as it would really be just an annoyance due to the upkeep of the unit.
You rarely require another cheap unit to be recruited at the same time as you're building this. You're building it to consolidate a previous conquest, not to create a military force.

Is keeping the town happy not good enough for you. In EBII, all buildings will be carefully thought through so that each one can take full advantage of any new nechanic that would be suitable for them.
