Having played the other versions of TW and getting pretty good at all parts of the game, I must admit I am overwhelmed by this one!!
In the campaign there is SOOO much to deal with that I didn't even consider when I got the game and took off running with it...
I ran my first campaigns as the muslim factions and took over the world!!
In reading the forums I have discovered how truly intesive the game is and I am overwhelmed with all of the things I have to deal with. LOL
Then when I got the MP to work for me I am overwhelmed all over again! There are a billion units ! Not to mention my poor dial up connection LOL
I did fine when we all had the same basic troops to choose from....now I am a little lost!
I am not complaining here...just stating that I am overwhelmed and wondering if others are feeling the same way....
Anybody have any ideas for me? I mean damn checking every general for their v&vs and all...governship, trade routes, the extensive buildings needed for tech buildup etc......
I can't get drunk and play this game anymore! heheh!!!

The strategy guide is pretty good. I recommend it. I had no total war experience though, so I am sure I got more out of it than you will.

In terms of general advise, look around the forum. There have been lots of basic primers. If you have a specific question, let me know http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/smile.gif

Yes, I know, isn't it great?! http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/smile.gif
The games you learn everything about in two days are a waste of money. THIS is what I want. http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/smile.gif

Yes, the strategic depth is remarkable in this game. I can see playing for years, like I did with Civ2. The overwhelming part is the lack of sorting or other mechanisms in the interface that cut down on the amount of clicking you have to do in order to micromanage. Hopefully some improvements to the interface will be made over time.

I hope you don't wimp out and use all those automation functions !

If I'm going to dominate the Medieval world I am going to do it myself, and not let any of my underlings get their own ideas about what units to train and what developments to build.

Hmm, on second thoughts I wouldn't mind asking my chief cleric to send all my priests to those provinces in direst need of religious guidance without having to bother me about it.

It really is remarkable just how much the devs have put into the game....I do hope that they can help ease the time consumption of micromanagement.....
I will NEVER wimp out though.....If you know my or my Clanm8s...we choose death before dishonor....
I will keep plugging away and learning from all my m8s here in the community....

I also sincerely hope they put in some methods of relieving the strategic agent micromanagement tedium. That and shuffling ships one sea hex at a time (but especially the agents...) are what I spend most of my time on in the strategy map.

Personally speaking, all those options might seem overwhelming... but in time you will get the handle on them. Just wait you see, you will crave for EVEN MORE units! and EVEN MORE options!!! That's what I'm feeling. - "What! Frogs have no specialized units!!! boo!" -

Trust me, just play like 2-3 campaigns. You will crave for more specialized units

I haven't played SP yet, but it sounds as if it is as complicated and involved as Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri game, which I still play this day and never have a different game every time. I may have to start playing an SP game. hmmm http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/smile.gif Considering I never played an SP game of STW or MI, that's saying something! LOL
