View Full Version : Music (First strat map song is often from wrong culture)

So I was just starting a wonderful Getai campaign, and to my surprise the usual "barbarian" music doesnt pop up, but instead a nice melodious flute tune takes its place.
:horn:
Unfortunately after I hit end turn the music goes away and never comes back...
:gah2:
EVER.
How come?:help:

This is a weird thing - the first song in a campaign often seems to be from the wrong culture group, but after that first turn it uses the correct music. I think maybe we are pressing the limits of how much music can be used because I can't find any actual errors in the code. Still, this has puzzled me too crazymofo. Great observation though! I was wondering when someone else would notice that. If anyone else can figure out why it is happening, please let us know. edit: I renamed the thread to something more specific.
I thought the flute (or is that panflute?) theme is Getian (aka faction specific), and after that the cultural themes start. Am I right?

Well, the selection by the .exe of the songs (barbarian in this case) is random for each time you load up the game. You could get the same one two turns in a row for example. But since he said "it never returns", I thought he was asking about this one strange issue I have recently been noticing, that as a barbarian faction, or a few other ones too I think, your first turn on the strat map often has a Romani culture song playing for some weird reason. But you never hear it again after that first turn. I can't figure it out, but it doesn't seem to cause any other problems.
Well, what culture is the flute/panflute song? It actually fits the Getai.

There are flute songs for the barbs and for the Romani. As I said earlier, since he said that he never heard it again, I assumed it was the Roman one that would show up *at first* but *never* again after that.

Ok well I should have been more specific then, like it was mentioned, that flute did come up, but didnt afterwards, and was just wondering if this was intended.
No, I have not heard the roman one, just the usual barbarian one, and I have played all of the barbarian factions except the lazy sweboz, who just anger me cause they come in hordes ><

Teleklos, I think that I may have a tentative answer. I have no modding experience so this is based purely on observation. When the game loads up a campaign it has music playing from the main menu and the loading screen. When the campaign map comes up, the files may not have switched yet to the faction specific ones yet, so the game improvises. I have noticed this in every TW game since Shogun, and I guess I just don't notice it very much anymore. A similar thing happens when you hit end turn, as the turn-phase has its own soundtrack. I hope this helps.

They're lazy and come in hordes? Lazy hordes?

Yeah they are lazy, for they mass stacks near their borders, and I consider a horde 2 full stacks ;P
Plus, if they werent lazy they would actually use those stacks to ransack gaul or rome, but instead wait like 60 years to go straight at my poor dacians, or if I continue the game, my poor epirotes >.>
