Just want to know whether my fellows hand orientation corresponds to world average (Around 1/10 of the world's population is left-handed).
Let me start. I am left-handed, but use my right for some stuff(like the guitar, the mouse, etc.

I am right-handed (shouldn't this thread have a poll?).
Heh, your the Moderator here, can't you just add one!? ~:joker:
Also, right of course! Right handed for pretty much everything, except for when it's plainly obvious that I need to use my left hand (like the left hand side of the keyboard).

Mainly my right hand, although many things can be down with left hand

Everyone knows being left handed is a sign of the devil... :shifty:
Myself, I am right handed, of course, like a good little non-heathen. ~;p
Right and left, but I can only write with right. And I'm only used to play the guitar the right handed way.

My Uncle is left handed, and he is lawyer, so you could very well be correct

I heard once left handed people live on average 7 years less than rightys, does anyone now if this is true ?
Righty here though i use my knife and fork like a left handed person supposedly...
What about stirring drinks like coffee clockwise and counter-clockwise? Supposedly I stir things like a left-handed person by going counter-clockwise... I mean, honestly... it doesn't make that much difference to the taste of the coffee... does it?

Heretic! I'll never be drinking any of your foul, southpaw beverage....
:clown:
Actually I stir CCW as well - using my right hand CCW seems sensible, though TBH as I don't take sugar, I don't always stir it anyway...
Anyway, whichever is your dominant hand, it's a good idea to learn to write with your other one, too. And no, I'm not just thinking of the "so you can still fill in the insurance forms when you lose your arm in a freak agricultural accident" angle. It forces you to use the less-dominant hemisphere of the brain, as well, and it frankly has some very wierd effects.
Oh yes, I'm right-handed if you hadn't worked out yet ~D
Right-handed, but some things I do far, far better with my left hand, martial arts for example, why that is I don't get at all. :inquisitive:
Well, normal people are of course right-handed, superior people are left-handed (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Left-handed#Left-handedness_and_intelligence). ~;p

Strange poll. Anyway I'm right handed. I got a friend who is Right-footed and left-handed.

I'm a leftie when I write. Therefore I class my self as a leftie.
BUT... I play sports right handed, kick a football with my right foot too.
I can play pool/snooker just as well with either hand, its just a shame I suck at it.:clown:

Looks like you're good with both hands, but my friend can barely write with his right hand, while he's a superb passer of the ball with his right foot, he can barely kick a ball more than 10 meters with his left.:dizzy2:
I consider myself more right-handed than not (it's the hand I use to write and to throw things with), although I'm left-handed when it comes to activities such as driving and some personal hygiene functions. I'm also left-handed when it comes to opening & closing stuff -- anything that has a door, lid, cover, etc., I generally use my left hand to open & close it.

Left.
Those who believe they are ambidextrous because they can write with either hand, which hand do you use to hold a toothbrush? Assuming, of course, that you use one.
Sadly, Husar, left-handed people are apparently more prone to
auto-immune disorders, learning disorders, dyslexia, and stuttering, as well as increased spatial ability.
as well as:
In 2007, researchers discovered LRRTM1, the first gene linked to increased odds of being left-handed. The researchers also claim that possessing this gene slightly raises the risk of psychotic mental illnesses such as schizophrenia.
But I think I'm ok with that

Left Handed by nature, Although I'm from the era that forced people to use their right hand. So Now I do most things right handed, but it always feels a little more awkward.

so he is left-handed!!!
but right-footed :sweatdrop:
Wakizashi, me too was left-handed...but my parents thought it was disrespectful and forced me to become right handed... i find that i have become very clumsy and restricted with my left hand now and feels very unnatural...

Didn't they use to say left-handed people were children of the devil or something ridiculous like that, so they had to correct them though beating?
I also heard ginger hair and multicoloured eyes make you children of the devil. Which makes me a little bit uneasy since I have all three characteristics.

Lefties are subhumans!
Right power! Right power! Right power!
(In case there are some slow people out there, that was a joke. You know, the things you used to laugh at before you became offended at everything? You know who you are.)

Right-handed and used to be ridiculously right-footed, but now can use my left for tricks (but not much more).
My brother though is insane. He's totally ambidextrous, both hands and both feet. He bats right-handed, bowls left-handed, can write with either hand, can score a goal from 30 yards with either foot....
...the list goes on. :dizzy2:
I'm right-handed. There are a few things that I can do with both hands like throwing or playing table tennis. Right hand is always better.
My younger sister is left-handed, but she was forced (in school) to be right-handed since 3rd grade. So, she is both hands now, but she still prefers left hand, especially when eating.
My second older sister is right-handed when writting. She eats left-handed and she does other things both hands (left hand for precision, right hand for power).
One of my niece is left-handed when righting, but right-handed for everything else.
My nephew is right-handed, but sometimes he does his homework left-handed when he gets distracted or getting lazy (doing homework with left hand and playing with right hand).

Left handed, but I used to play tennis with my right hand (except serving with my left hand), and most of the tools are designed for right-handers (ever tried to use scissors or a chainsaw in a left-hand way? Good luck...). I can aim with both eyes but my left is slightly better.
Left-handed here! And wow, 23% left-handed in the poles?!
Bah, I wish I could use my left hand for more things... especially playing pool/billiards/snooker. I've lost a many games because of my inability to use my left hand... :shame:
I normally do things (open doors, reach for something, ect.) with my left hand, but I have to write with my right.. my handwriting looks like that of a four year old if I try to use my left. So I consider myself right-handed. :dizzy2:

Just quick question here, might I ask if anybody who is single handed (left handed only or right handed only) occasionally writes their letters (but not words) back to front when writing with their less commonly used hand? I'm just curious as to know whether I'm the only one who does it or not.
Thanks ~:)

I'm right handed... I fire a rifle left handed though. (I have a dominant left eye)
My wife shoots left handed and her eyes are two differing colours ... the "child of the devil" thing has some merit! ( mental note: do NOT annoy the wife.) :)
Your wife uses a firearm!? And you live in New Zealand!?
Such an odd mix is all. I thought firearm laws were pretty tight in New Zealand like they are in Australia. Unless you live on a farm where it's just plainly obvious that you need a firearm, like if a dingo starts to eat your baby. ~:joker:

We live in a town ( Pop: 20,000).
The basic firearms licence requires that you sit through a 2 hour safety course, followed by a 25 questions from which you have to get 24 correct.
Two referees (one related to you, one that is not) to vouch that you are suitable to possess firearms, they are interviewed by the police.
A suitable storage area for the firearms... ranging from a locked cupboard for a rifle to a safe for pistols and the like.
None of which is any hardship when compared to the privelege of having the licence.
My wife owns: a ruger 10/22, a Tikka L/H .223 and we share a replica 1858 .44 Remington revolving carbine (which is more fun, than a rattlesnake down the trousers!)
My wee wifey is into shooting/hunting, fishing and owns a motorbike (CBR400 Aero) Perfect!

I'm in that club, too. Started out left-handed, then shown the evil of my ways by Catholic nuns at age 8, and converted to right-handed. Sometimes, in forgetfulness or under stress, I revert to left-handed for some tasks, to the amazement of my (left-handed) wife.

Thankfully, I'm young enough that people don't force me to be right-handed.
It's kinda weird though...

My parents were asked by the teachers their opinion about a prompt forced reducation as they discovered I was left-handed 30 years ago. I'm glad they refused and was not sentenced to torture and dyslexism.
