Hi all. http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/smile.gif

I've had MTW for a couple of weeks now, and have some really basic newbie questions:

1. Is it worth it to build a trade post for internal trade, even if you don't have a port?

2. When as playing as the Almos Spain crusades me, their crusaders just stay in Castille and die away till I kill them. What's with that?

3. I put a priest in a province to up my religion, it goes up so slowely and when an enemy priest appears in that province he can take of up to 15% in one turn!!! What's with THAT???

4. Is all the tech messages just about the highest level of building you have?

5. How can I call on my allies to attack my enemy?

This is a great game BTW. Sorry if these are repeated questions. http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/smile.gif

1. It is not near as rewarding as seatrading, but look at the breakeven numbers (I.e. how long will it take for the building to pay for it's own cost and create a profit) and decide for yourself if it's worth it.

2. It's up with the franchised Deep Blue AI used in M:Tw

3. Look at his honour level (the number of stars). Higher = better at preaching jibberish. If they become a problem, build assains and try to kill them.

4. Yep, nothing to be really concerned with, as you can dominate easily with most of the basic units in the game (at the moment, before the patch)

5. Haha! Good one, almost had me there for a while.

Just elaborating some less clear answers above

1. answered
2. The AI decides it can't take your province and just sits around waiting for it to weaken (you'd see it move if you emptied your province) btw almo shouldn't let spain live long enough to get a crusade...
3. dunno really
4. ditto
5. you can't

1. Yes. But it's not worth to upgrade to the next level, unless you really have extra money and nothing more to build.

2. My guess is the crusade's target is Granada and you have large force in Cordoba. If that was the case, the crusade has problem with attacking non-target or a enemy province with large force. I don't really know why.

3. Religious agents of other factions: they will help you convert people if their religion is the same as yours. They will hinder your convert process if their religion is different with yours. Higher level agent convert faster (Ex: Cardinal or Othodox Bishop convert faster than Bishop or Priest, Ulama convert faster than Alim).

Thanks for the answers guys. http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/smile.gif

Just a clarification on the crusade question:
- Spain called crusade against Cordoba.
- I as Almos had an urban militia, desert archer and a peasant in the keep.
- I had my main army with a level 8 hier with a couple of camels, 4 urban militias and 3 desert archers in Portugal (just conquored it waiting for fort). It was about 4-500 men?
- His crusade stayed put with around 1000 men, easy enough to take cordoba.
- He moved all his units out of Leon, so when the portugal fort was finished I moved my army into Leon. His crusade still stayed put. In fact, Spain moved her regular armies against Navarra and got then destroyed. *shrug*
- I just build troops in Morocco and Cordoba, moved then to Leon to get my army to 1000 (by that time the crusade was down to 500 with one archer in the keep of castille), so I just took him out.

Artifical Stupid for sure!
