Byzantine Banner-why not the original?

I have a question for anyone from the creative team of the game. All playable nations in the game have their original historicaly banners.All but the byzantines. The game has a cross of some short to resemble the Byzantine banner but the real one is a black two-headed eagle in a red backround...?

Since red was taken I guess... The same for Denmark, but I find them both good banners still.

I too was a bit disappointed to see "Dannebrog" was not used (as it original came in to use about 13-1400...)
But I'm trying to redraw the shields, just don't seem to have enough time for it.... - AND I'm not a great artist http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/biggrin.gif
