View Full Version : Most beatifull unit

Hey saw that there was an most ugly unit. So then I wondered. Wich unit do you think most beatifull?
With the limited game experience. I must say I really like Elite heavy infantry of the allied state. And the general body guard of the Koinon Hellenon. When these two units I get the chills. It really feels like two empire clash together.

THE BEST THE BEST THE BEST THE BEST THE BEST.
I'm going to have to say on a scale of one to ten
1-Indohellenikoi Eugeneis Hoplitai
2-Baktrian Bodyguard cavalry
3-Kardaka
4-All 3 Man-Tank units
5-Getic General
6-Pontic General
7-Hai General
8-Royal Kinsmen cavalry(Eastern bodyguard, the ones with the coolest "TRIARRI" sound ever.
9-Scortamareva(Bost Theurophoroi type unit -ever-
10-Not sure why..but Germanic Pikeman
All units are Beautiful, those just especially though
Its a bit unfair to to put M2TW unit quality units in there, but they are great(the generals)
Nobody here of course would question my sexual preference if I said Gestae right? I mean, can't a straight man see beauty in other men's nude bodies?

Damn straight we can! Admiring the male genitalia does not make a man homosexual. ~:)
There are a lot of units that I could see as good candidates, but to pick one... I'll go with the Arjos (https://www.europabarbarorum.com/i/units/arverni/arverni_arjos.gif). They're just so beutiful.
Hows the Irony in that. I just made that unit for EBCIV!
Back on topic though, the most beautiful units would have to be the: Ischyroi Orditon. They are just beautiful!:2thumbsup: If I remember correctly they were one of yours Blank yes? If not whoever made them TOPNOTCH WORK! They made a wet spot on my chair when I first saw them in-game!:laugh4: :2thumbsup:

I'm not sure why but the simplicity yet practicality of their dress, the venerable gray hair, and the level of detail, even so far as how the quiver of arrows is strapped to the body, really impressed me.
Aside from them, I also like...

Not in any particular order:
Carthiginian Sacred Band Cavalry
Thorakitai Agematos Basilikou
Peltastai Indohellinikoi
Hysteroi Pezhetairoi
Grivpanvar
Galatikoi Kleruchoi
Klerouchikon Agema
Polybian Princepes and Triarii
Cohors Praetoriana
Agema Hellenikon
Agema Hippeon Hellenikon
Gaesatae (rebel/foriegn version)
Thrakioi Rhomphaiaphoroi
Peltastai (KH, Pontic and Baktrian versions)
Hoplitai (Roman and Qarthadast versions)
Yeah, I like a lot of units. It's funny that alot of the units that others said they loved are ones that I personally don't see anything special in (good skins just personal tastes). Just goes to show you that beauty is in the eye of the EB player.

Related - best looking hoplite skin? I especially like the Pontos and Epeiros ones.
Does Baktria use the Ptolemaioi/Seleucid one? I seem to remember them having a unique skin...
Best looking units - most of the heavy units in the game look great.
Grivpanar, Baktrian Hetairoi, Sacred Band cav and Armenian and Sarmatian Bodyguards for cavalry. Also love the tatooed elephants!
Scordisci, libyan heavies, scortamerva, carnutes, elite thracians, epeirote elite, greek heavy hoplites, saba nobles, and garamantines all stand out in my mind for infantry (among many others).
Without exception the general's skins look great, my favorites being the Makedonian, Seleucid and Arverni.
Compliments to the artists.

I didn't like the Arverni style Solduros as much because of the color scheme. I just prefer red and yellow over black and yellow.
I don't like the Arjos as much as the Carnute Cingetos because the Arjos resemble the Galatian spearmen too much IMO (they're basically the same unit). Plus the horned helmets of the Carnutes is pleasing to my eye :devilish: Haha just kidding.

My only gripe with this skin is the lack of shoulder straps.
Is there a historical reason for this or is a leftover from RTW days? I remember that several units in RTR had no straps to save models for some reason.
Also, I must say the Kinsmen(the man, not the cataphract) are beautiful, its seems to be a pefect mesh between Hellenic and Persian.

I. Taxeis use the same model as the I. Peltastai ('different I' though); which means that this might have something to do with it.
However far as I can tell the armour worn where the I. Peltastai prefer to hang out was sort of 'different' to that of where the 'regular' Peltastai call it home...

Oh, of course, but how does a linothorax not a the shoulder straps? And other Indohellenes (Indo-Greek Iphrikates for example) have them)
I don't know if stuff like that requires additional models, though, as I've seen various pantodapoi phalangitai with and without them.
