I have a quick question regarding speared units such as the triarii and any
hoplite for this matter.
I remember in RTW Vanilla days, the unit description screen would have a
highlight such as "bonus defense vs mounted units". In other non RTW games, you'd see a description such as "1.5X or 2X vs cavalry". To clarify things, the full unit description might sometimes say that a particular unit
is deadly against cavalry units, but I'm asking specifically about the highlight at the beginning of the unit description page, along other highlights such as "excellent morale".
My assumption is that speared units in EB still have an inherent bonus
vs mounted units (provided they're formationally prepared for enemy
cavalry charge). Is this assumption true? Or is there not an inherent bonus
vs cavalry if I don't see the feature in the description page? My current assumption is that when I engage a spear unit vs enemy hippos, I'd get way better results (kill/death ratio 1.25X or better) than a sword-only unit with similar defend/attack stats.
I'm just curious why I don't see the bonus vs mounted units as a highlight of a unit such as the triarii.
