hey i'd just like to let you know about this problem i'm having in EB1.1

in each battle i have involving cities, be it that they sally forth, or an army attacks me to relieve the city, i get a CTD. what's confusing is it CTDs right when you select the option a manual command of the battle for 'sally forth' battles, and it CTDs right after i win the battle for the 'relieve city' battles.

does anyone of you know how i can fix this problem?

thanks a lot :)

No. At least not straight away.

However you could do some testing to see if this problem is related to the campaign; or purely to the battle itself. I suggest you do the following:

1) Create and load a custom battle featuring a city to be assaulted or to be defended by you. Make sure that it is in fact possible to assault the city; assign the assaulting army some good siege equipment ~:).
Doesn't matter if you play this one in Single Player or Multiplayer 'mode' as the only purpose is to observe if the battle will work; and if it does, how the battle progresses (smoothly; laggy; extreme stutter; etc. etc.).

2) Do the same with both roles reversed; just in case. Make sure to try both hughe cities and villages in both attempts. (That's 2*2 battles to try.) If villages don't work; don't count on the hughe cities though so best to try villages first.

------------------------

If your test is succesful; that is you can have a go at your enemies in battle (in all of the 4 battles); it is time to try the following test:

1) Load up a campaign; fix a scenario which is bound to trigger an assault/sally (so besiege some settlement).
2) When the relevant battle scroll appears; I suggest you take a break after reviewing whatever you need to know about army compositions/traits etc. Say give your PC 1 min of rest (just don't touch anything).

3) When the break is over see if your PC is happy to battle now.

---------------------------

If your test is not succesful; that is you can't even fight in villages - collect the following information:
1) Your RAM specs. (Size, speed, age?)
2) Your GFX card specs (Amount of memory; manufacturer; model; version; drivers; 3d acceleration support -should be ok as I can't honestly fathom anyone still playing on something without 3d acceleration if you can get RTW to work in the first place... )

This is stuff for your information; mostly. After you have obtained that info you can experiment with drivers, as especially Nvidia cards appear to have unstable drivers and some of them appear to be downright incompatible with RTW. See if updating the drivers works first (which is why you need to keep track of your current driver version); and try older drivers second.
