Is this a built in feature or a bug

I invaded Greece as Turks and beat the byz army there forcing them into the castle. having obtained some nice pillage of Fs1600 i moved out of greece and put my army into Bulgaria and constantinople (thinking ai would perhaps either try to get greece back and/or attack a somewhat defenceless constant.

i pressed end year and to my amazement i find that i am fighting a battle in Greece (remember I have just pulled ALL my troops out of there). I was badly beaten but worse was the fact that my strategy of thinking the ai would go for greece and thus leave bulgaria wide open which should have worked - DIDNT.

WTF is going on here http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/smile.gif Are we not allowed to win a battle force a siege and withdraw? or do we have to stay and fight even if we dont want to

Did you get the parcment that said one of your armies has been interecepted or something?

If you try to attack another province but the AI tries to attack your province, you are forced to defend.

The AI did this often in STW when you were superior in numbers, then it would retreat from battle. End result was you could not invade.

BTW, Danish Crusades are true to history.

You may not care about war, but war cares about you!

I will check the save game to see about that

I reloaded the game and re did the moves putting one less stack into bulgaria. this time the ai moved to greece and i was left with bulgaria (as it should have been).
