But they didn't exactly conquer anything so it wouldn't be much fun to play. Although I would like the Scots to be more unruly. When I play as the English, after I take them over they are quiet as mice. Never a peep out of em. They should be revolting every ten years!! http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/wink.gif

That's easy enough to change!
In early.txt, each region is given a rebelliousness rating, IIRC it's 2 for Scotland, it wouldn't be too hard to change that to 4, which is the highest any province has at the mo (portugal). http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/smile.gif

You can easily change the revolt factor for any province by simply editing the appropriate .txt file in the campmap/startpos folder. Go to the Region Attributes portion and you'll see lines for each province. In the early.txt file, for example, Scotland's entry looks like this:

SetAttributes:: ID_SCOTLAND "Scotland" 2 CATHOLIC_CULTURE TEMPERATE AT_WESTERN_EUROPEAN -1 190 "Scotland Castle_xzy" INLAND HILLY NO_RIVER

The "2" is the revolt value. Just change it - the possible range is 0 to 5 or 6; I don't recall the max. The higher the number, the higher the revolt risk. Save and play.

I think an improvement to scotland would be to break it into lowlands and highlands (the highlands would be more difficult to subdue which is more accurate historically) and an invaiding army to the highlands would be met at a field like bannockburn / stirling bridge.

Unfortunately the same could go for almost every region in the game, the moment you start doubling the amount of provinces it's going to give me a serious headache.

Ultimately, although Nessie is cute and Braveheart did well at the box office, Scotland never amounted to much historically until the invention of the television. I think it's good that in MTW Scotland fulfills it's modern role of providing the English with kickass infantry while remaining quiet.

has anyone seen the Dewars scotch ad? The one with the New Zealand rugby team (the "all-blacks") doing their fancy dancing and grinning maori thing... and when they end, the scots they are facing, just lift their skirts err... kilts http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/biggrin.gif
