View Full Version : Backroom Love-in

Adrian and Cegorach asked me to post the following on their behalf:
Cegorach and I have had some ugly run-ins. Cegorach was under the impression that I accused him of being an antisemite. I was under the impression that I didn’t. That’s because he isn’t one.
If I inadvertently gave rise to this misunderstanding, I hereby apologise to Cegorach.
May we have many more fierce debates without the cloud of slander hanging over them. This little corner of the Internet is too dear to both of us to waste any more time over it. Just thought we’d tell ya.
On behalf of the Polish gentleman and myself, this has been a public service announcement. Now back to the arena, you bunch of lazy crash watchers. Banquo's Ghost, put those trolls and strawmen to the whip!

If memory serves me correct, there has not been a thread with the words 'France' and 'Poland' in the title that did not end up locked. As much as I love a good tussle, this is of course simply not on. Not worthy of the friendly atmosphere of the Backroom.
This is all owing to those evil Polish nationali I tend to sneak in the odd friendly provocation in my posts. But there is a fine line between taunting and trolling. A line which I more than once lost sight of, which is not deserving of the Backroom atmosphere, the time and effort others put in the thread, or Polish members, and for which I apologise.
~~~
For Cegorach, and as a public prostration, the following:
In 2005, France held a referendum over the new EU constitution. The symbol of the no-camp became 'the Polish Plumber', fear of cheap labour taking away French jobs. In the heat of the yes/no battle, it was forgotten that this symbol was somewhat insensitive to the citizens of a country with which we joined a Union just a year before.
The Polish revenge was as funny as it was merciless. The Polish tourist board swamped French women's magazines with this advert of a Polish model, which reads 'I stay in Poland...do come over by the droves...'
Needless to say, for such is their wicked nature, French women could not resist the temptation and soon swamped the Polish cities. ~:mecry: :wall:
Save the 30 hour workweek! America doesn't need any more competition.
I don't understand. Why you, Louis? Why not them? It's sure nice to see fellows not dwelling in mud but I'm dazzled about the method this apology stuff is being made.
And where the hell is my döner postcard, AdrianII ?
No, he's probably doing something else....
I'm not sure if he's still open about talking about it. :idea2:
All is well then...No, it is not.
Cegorach and I talked it over and we think it is all Louis' fault after all.
We are now promoting behind-the-scenes talks about a Dutch Polish-Dutch alliance. You can't be too sure these days. :stare:
The public reconciliation is much appreciated, even if the presentation through a third party leaves some confusion.
The rest of the thread however - much like the French Republic - has failed to live up to the high ideals which gave it birth and is subsequently terminated with extreme prejudice.
