Because here in the UK its the high flying lawyers who go nuts with shotguns. Bad choice of weapon for the top floor of a building though you would have thought.

Also his rate of fire was about one shot every hour or two. I get the impression he didn't know what he was doing...

No, quite possible. As the article points out, it was even licensed.

Shotguns are perfectly legal (with a licence) - used for pheasants and suchlike (note the 'h', we can't hunt peasants any longer... pity). And, as demonstrated by Mr Saunders, they are ridiculously useless when used against people, especially those wearing body-armour and armed with high-powered rifles.

Well I think that this is a good opportunity to ban them once and for all anyway :smash:

Or maybe instead they should make available automatic weapons for all, in order to protect them from the Evil British government.~D

Sorry, can't type long reply, holed up in my bunker off Chancery Lane with a brace of Purdeys.*

But being serious, lawyer shoots public is a great man bites dog story isn't it?

(OK, not that serious. In fact not serious at all)

* for Jonny Foreigner: http://www.purdey.com/guns/side-by-side/ I WANT one of the double rifles.

Belgium is good but Germany is better. It has to be a Krieghoff Drilling. I couldn't be seen dead with anything less.

Sadly my only experience with firing a shotgun was rather curtailed. But it was a side-by-side, of course.

I do, however, have a little more experience with some distinctly illegal weaponry (for civilians that is). Nothing quite like hammering round after round into a set of falling plates before anyone else gets to the firing point...

Actually, given my relatively low experience in operating such a weapon system, and my nevertheless fairly decent accuracy at ranges up to 400m, it worries me slightly that people might be able to get hold of such things in conditions other than strict military control.

One less lawyer. Good. Father said he shouldn't have been shot. Leaving aside the massive saving to the public purse that the court case would have caused if a loon with a gun isn't a valid target I don't know who is (bar the unemployed and social class 5 of course )

At least you're close to Ye Olde Mitre, if you get tired of slaughter and fancy a pint.

What I find quite odd about this is that the police aren't sure if they shot him, or if he did himself in. I'd think that a bullet from the police would make quite a different wound to a shotgun shell from point-blank range. But then I'm not a forensic pathologist.

Maybe the stun grenades did it?:sweatdrop:

Sir, you hardly needed to mention it. An over and under is NOT a gentleman's gun. :toff:

Well, so far there don't seem to be any cries of "ban all guns immediately", which makes a nice change. As for whether he should have been shot, the though did go through my mind. As fas as I can tell he was being contained and was a danger only to himself, and he'd been on the sauce. I did wonder what the hurry to storm the flat was. Maybe they should have let him sober up.

But then again if you start waving a shotgun at CO19 you really only have yourself to blame if they shoot you.

No, but I heard that they are going to make lawyers illegal starting in the New Year. :laugh4:

Yeah it makes a nice change for them to shoot someone who actually has a gun

:laugh4: And where are they going to find a lawyer to take that case ? The devil looks after his own.

@ Tribes, yes, that thought had occured to me...I don't think he was even Brazilian.
