View Full Version : Blank Screen
Whenever I try to load up Victoria or HoI2:DD my computer screen just turns black and does nothing else. I checked the error logs and this is what I found "Faulting application victoria.exe, version 1.0.0.2, faulting module ntdll.dll, version 5.1.2600.2180, fault address 0x00001230."
I've loaded the games up before with no problems. I am completely perplexed as to what the problem is (though that's not surprising considering I know little about computers). Everything else seems to be fine. I posted on the Paradox forums and figured I'd post here as well to see if anyone around here could possible help me.

Aah that notorious ntdll.dll shows up again.
Ichigo, although some said that ntdll.dll has nothing to do with .NET Framework, I haven't been coming across with ntdll.dll errors since the time I updated .Net Framework to version 3.5.
Go to Microsoft Downloads and search for .Net Framework 3.5 and allow it to be downloaded and installed (it may take some time).
Let's see if it works.

Har.
Weird. It's says you made a post in this thread LEN at 21:21 (about thirty minutes ago), but it's only your post from yesterday.

I bumped up the jam, Ichigo, for functional purposes.
What about DirectX?
DirectX Diagnostic Tool says there are no problems found.
Edit: At the Paradox forums no one has even tried to help me. Thank you Caius and LEN for your time and help. I still have no idea what's wrong and it doesn't seem like I will find out what's causing the problem.
Maybe try installing service pack 3 if you're on XP? Have you installed or uninstalled anything recently?

Alright. No I haven't besides Vicky when it didn't work. There's nothing else that I can think of.
It seems thats a driver problem, what about your driver?

Would I driver cause two games not to work, when others still are playable? How can I test the driver to see if it is still operational?

I've installed it. No change.
Try installing the latest version of your video card drivers, or reinstalling if you already have the most recent installed.
If that doesn't work, try reinstalling the latest DirectX. It's a big download: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=740AC79A-5B72-447D-84F9-EE6407ED1A91&displaylang=en
Report back with results.
Looks like Ichigo that there is a problem with the video drivers, as I know that file could be from Nvidia. But don't look at me, look at wHacker instead.

Neither one has changed anything.
BTW Ichi, have you tried to reinstall/upgrade it?

the game.
the game.
I've done that. No change.
I sure feel stupid. When you download from Gamersgate it creates a folder on your desktop. I moved that folder so I guess it couldn't find something and that caused it to not work. Sorry for the inconvenience
