Pretty simple question.:help:

I think they are only available in custom battles, not in the campaign.

Correct. It is a pity though.

In vanilla, you can add an armor upgrade and weapon upgrade to them though.

You can do the same to late bodyguards in custom battles or if you mod them into your game.

Still doesn't make early BGs late BGs :tongue2:

no, but it's the best you can do in vanilla.

Do any of the Kingdoms campaigns allow late general's bodyguard?

I think the Spanish general's bodyguards in Americas might be Late bodyguards (i.e. they look like lancers or conquistadores rather than feudal or chivalric knights.)

I had no idea...:furious3:

Surely mods such as SS and LTC fix this?

Doubtful seeing as the (hard)code to swap early with late bodyguards is broken.

You can probably easily mod this to have the early bodyguards retrainable in a citadel/fortress to come out a late bodyguard.

Nope, doesn't work, trust me.
The best you can do is give the normal BG some more armor levels but that still doesn't make it a late BG with armored horse.

I normally just manually make the switch.

As soon as it hits late period (I build a citadel), I change all the early models of general bodyguard into late ones.... it works pretty well.

Yes you can do it manually and make them look exactly like late ones but the unit reference will not be changed in that way and you cannot automate that process in a game.

This makes me scream in anguish for a computer old enough enough to run MTW. I am beyond let down by CA. This may be the straw on the camels back

relax bob, put it all into context - worse things happen at sea

(as i'm sure we'll find out in Empire:clown:)

OMG who knew Jason was a prophet worth following.

Bailing on Empire completely. No thank you.

If I be rememberin' correctly, in LTC you get later bodyguards mounted and foot (which is confusing on the strategic map) but can't remember about upgrading them. I'm playing a SS campaign now but it will be a month probably before I get far enough to see.

I am afraid Jason is correct and those of us optimistic enough to buy Empires will probably be "beta testing" it next year at this time 'cause ya know they'll release it for the Christmas sales come Hell or High Water. Also, the few screen shots of naval combat do not encourage me. I can't even see any restraining rope thingies on the cannons so the sailors must be drunker than the Danish sea captian in M2TW (English Version).
