View Full Version : not getting full profit from mines

Playing my Karthadistim campaign, around 260 my economy started stagnating, and I was only making about a thousand mnai per turn. So I decided to save up to build a level one mine in Mastia. I was informed that I would be getting 2000 mnai per turn from this mine. However, once it was built I saw that I was only getting 660 mnai per turn. All that saving for nothing.
Is this something I did wrong? Is it a bug? Or does the level one mine in Mastia only produce 660 mnai per turn, instead of the promised 2000?

This is bugged. If you want to check out how much a mine will make, just start building it, check the Settlement Details scroll, it will show how much it'll just make.

No, the ingame descriptions are inaccurate. The income is dependent on resources. So some mines bring in only 600 / turn, while others can bring in up to 1800 / turn. When deciding on building a mine, simply take a look at the settlement details screen. Once you select a mine, it will show (in a greyish colour) what contributions the buildings in the building queue will make.

Isn't it true that different mines give different incomes? And also the mines add up so a province with 5 mine resources are going to make more money from mines than one with 2?

And could it be that on VH campaign difficulty you get an income penalty on mines as well? I seem to remember you do for trade and taxes.

You don't get income penalties for mines on higher campaign difficulties.

Some provinces have more mine resources so you get more income. Pella, for example, has three mine resources in the province that it controls. So you'll get 1800 income total, governor traits notwithstanding. Build the mines quickly there! I suggest building mines even if it's just one resource. They're great.

Yeah its a great investment, in my 0.81 mak campaign they were one of the key roles to my 2 million mnai treasury.

okay thanks for the replies. As long as we're on the subject, where is the best place to build mines in Iberia?

I guess in the northern regions.

I think Sucum Murgi has the best mines in Iberia for Lusotannan. It should also be the priority province for early conquest anyway for recruitment reasons.

For the Carthies I thought they got great mining income for both starting provinces.

Anyone else should be rich already before they get there

I didnt find the northern iberian mines to be especially great actually.

I thought every single family member + general gets very bad economy + governing traits once you go over 50k sitting in the treasury?

They do, but it's only a small percent chance (I believe it's 3% at 50k and 5% at 100k) of getting it per turn. Once you get that much money, the corrupt traits don't really matter anymore. It's just a small dent in your income every turn.

I thought it's only in Vanilla.

I mean it just doesn't make sense for faction like the Saka Rauka who's victory condition included having 500 000 minai in their treasury (at least in 1.0) and then tell the player they get trait penalties for saving up money to reach that victory condition.

Yeah Pella is a right treat, presently getting 7,600 per turn, just from the level 2 mine there. And if you move the right governer there, some can give you 30-40% discounts on the 35,000 building cost. He's my travelling advanced builder, stays awhile, oversees the expensive stuff, then his expertise is required elsewhere.

It is only a small chance a character will get one of these traits. And there are easy ways around it just queue up as many buildings in every city, but stop construction before they are built. Once you have enough money locked away in queued buildings, you cancel all of them sit back and win the next turn.

Also the threshold for treasury causing bad traits is 10000 and not 50000 as previously stated. If you have a govenor not building and a treasury in excess of 10000 you risk getting a bunch of traits like bad builder and bad administrator. So be warned.

The Dock Upgrades are especially good for this. Mines too. Queue up the most expensive buildings you can in each settlement and then cancel if you don't actually want them built when it comes time for them. Also, recruit all-elites and invade Egypt if you're the Maks:laugh4:
