Well you could use cheats. But cheats ruin the whole entire game.
Not technically but it's just not right if you beat the. And if you really want to edit all that stuff look around descr_strat in the imperial campaign part which is in data, but don't try it unless you know what your doing.

Oh, yea welcome to the org! :beam:

Not, sure...

But I have a question for you -

What does having vista have to do with cheating i'm talking about romeshell, you know the ~ thing.

No they don't. Force Diplomacy is necessary for anything remotely resembling sensible AI behaviour. Using the console to give money to the smaller AI factions is vital to preserve them.

It's entirely a matter of taste. You prefer not to play with them, for other people it enhances their fun. There's no right answer.

I'm playing with Vista and the key to open the "cheat console" is the "ยบ" (just below ESC in my keyboard).

you can add/alter character traits using a cheat called give_trait or something like that.

This requires a knowledge of how the traits work and the characters internal name-not the one you see on the screen.

This is particularly a problem with the Romans, as their new cultural trait system gives them an internal name that is totally different to the name you see on the screen.

There are several threads discussing this so if you really want to try it, you can do a search. Personally I don't think it is worth the effort involved to cheat with character traits. Force diplomacy on the other hand is very useful.

Force diplomacy it's essential if you want to correct (or at least try it) the AI crazy policy.

And it still works for EB 1.1.

I've said it before, but with un-augmented diplomacy it acts like the Black Knight from Monty Python and the Holy Grail.

I guess you have a good point on the taste thing.
And if your looking for a better AI try looking into Roma Surrectum i'ts got a enhanced Rebels scheme and a little added to the ai.

a little added to the ai.

I don't belive that, as I am sure AI is hard coded, perhaps better formations, but not a changed AI. Definately not in the campain.

It could be a matter of keyboard types.

That's probably because Microsoft Infrared Receiver (integrated in Vista) interferes with RomeShell. Go to Device Manager and didable it while plaing RTW. Than install it again (search for hardware changes and it will install autom.). I have found this on other forum and works for me.
It may be also other infrared receiver that causes problems (keybord,...).

Just out of interest have you tried running EB on Alex.exe. Because most people have found Diplomacy to much improved...for some reason. Even on Very Hard the AI will accept reasonable terms i.e. you take two provinces off them, demand money, threaten to attack, but offer a ceasefire and they'll accept it. At least in my experience, and others.

Don't have Alexander. After my experience with BI, I'm not keen on buying any more CA products just for a minimal improvement to my EB experience.
