I have a real problem with mass religon (bores the shit out of me!! http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/biggrin.gif ).

But seriously how do you improve your inquisitors star rating.

I only get on a gen with no piouty(sp?) 11% or maybe 13% so i wondered if anyone had any tips to help me out??

1 use grand inquisitors
2 use them in high zeal provinces, or put them somewhere for a few years to increase the zeal first
3 start low and work your way up, i can kill a few no piety guys with 100% chance, then work my way up to a six star pope killer, assuming i can be bothered.
4 they work less well in provinces with bishops/cardinals in or against royalty.

Thanks for the reply.

So inquisitors are fairly useless then?

And i should just use Grand ones.

depends,
as spain the first 'normal' inquisitor you produce in aragon has 3 stars (historical figure apparently, can't remember his name)

he scortch a few stars ridden french generals...

not useless, but by the time i can build inquisitors, i'm only one build away from grand ones. I guess if you use them alot than the regular variety are useful, while you upgrade your castle and req. for 20 or so years. Everyone likes different things in the game, i suppose in the spirit of the total war thing, you should use everthing you have all the time. Me i just like to fight http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/smile.gif with the odd assasination thrown in (usually my own royals which is why a highly trained inquisitor is good to have on hand, they can seek out inbreeding a mile away).

Grand Inquisitors have the annoying habit attracting assassins like flies to a turd. So if you keep them well guarded and on the move they can be a good way of wiping out a lot of enemy agents.

Inquisitors are excellent for preparing the way for Crusades. Drop a bunch in a province to boost the Zeal rating and watch the recruitment skyrocket when the Crusade moves in.

Train your grand inquisitor up to level 6 and he can burn anything apart from the most pious of kings & a pious pope. Train your grand inquisitor on the polish, scialian & hungarian genmerals as these are normally low piety. I even remember the name of my 6 star grand inquisitor Foucher De Couligny lol thats how good he was he burnt 2 popes & countless kings. If you can't be arsed finding targets for them every year just put him on the enemies best province & he will hold inquisitions. This will reduce the amount of florins from this province as half the population are been burnt at the stake....btw I cn constantinople drop from 1445 florins to 670 after one of my inquisitions.

Great strategy but it makes absolutely no sense that an Inquisitor can wield that kind of power in a non-Catholic province, especially one owned by a faction at war with the faction that created the Inquisitor!

"Ooh, tremble my Orthodox brothers for the mighty Inquisition travels into the heart of Muscovy! Dimitri, you hold him down while I bash him over the head with this large stick..."

WHAM! WHAM! CRACK!

"Did you hear that Dimitri? He just call me a blasphemous heathen!"

WHAM!

"Take THAT to confession you freak!"

I have held several Inquisitions in Pagan lands... If I only burned Catholics, then I guess those 4500 people killed were the last Catholics in Volhyrnia. There were 2% Catholics there.
