Below is a picture of what I look like. The lady on the right is my grandmother. Aside from the goatee most of my facial hair is blonde like the hair on my head. Do you guys think I could pull off a beard? Is there any other style you guys think I would look good in?
What kind of facial hair do all of you have?:artist: :santa2: :pimp: :Mr-T: :biker: :sombrero: :disguise:

Go with a Van Dyke beard. Not too many of those around anymore, and you already have the growth required to pull it off. Just make sure it stays nice and pointy.

Bah. I tend to just get some scruff, but it generally doesn't translate into anything good.:sweatdrop:
Mine's almost exactly the same as yours.
Try a Grizzly Adams look:

Everyone around here Digs the Goatee, outside of Here, Everyone grows a 'Stache to prove how manly they are, the bigger the mustache the more of a man you apparently are (its almost like this weird pseudo-Islamic thing). Anyhow, since I can't grow a goatee (lacking the viable middle hairs on my chin to do so) I've attempted to grow a mustache instead, however the first time it got to a decent length my wife finally threw a tantrum over it, so I shaved it. And the second time over the winter, I finally grew an awesome Magnum 'stache, but after realizing how much of a pain in the butt it is to keep food out of the lip hairs, I shaved it again. :laugh4:
EDIT: That and family members started calling me General Custer.

Since witnessing how obsessed adolescent boys are with their facial hair, and watching my best friends grow half-grizzled fungus on the sides of their faces - I have remained clean-shaven always.
I had what could nearly be described as a moustache at the age of 11 - I wasn't particularly proud of it and eventually decided that I was growing up and needed to shave - whilst most others my age were jumping up and down for the day in which they could.
From what I have seen - and I speak only from experience of the bearded folk I know - the beard is nowadays not grown so much for the achievement of a manly appearance as the attempt to hide a weak chin.
Many men I know hide the way their jaw hardly leaves their neck by allowing a forest to grow over it.
And from what I have also seen, most modern women don't particularly approve of facial hair, especially the pre-25 year-old kind.
If you will take advice from me, W&F, here it is;
You don't have a cleaved chin or a jaw of chiseled steel - however it is not weak, and matches the general structure of your face very well.
Don't grow anything that will hide the naturally good conformation of your features.
If you can handle slightly more aggressive criticism, then I would say that you don't need to cover up your face so much as expose it - tan it like leather and toil beneath the sun.
(However, it could simply have been a long winter before that photo was taken.)

Shave it! It must die!
Me, I am clean shaven. Occassionally I leave it for a week and it looks horrible. I have the ability to grow a moustache, however the hair on my chin just doesn't grow fast enough.

I had those locks you can see in a pic I had posted in pics sticky, a month ago or so. I guess, due to the job interviews forthcoming and the need of change I had, I shaved it off, got high ratings from people around and now wandering around with a facial hair 3-4 days old -which we call "dirty beard" in Turkish but I don't know if English has a specific definition for it. This one gets high ratings too ! W00tzlez !

Neckbeard all the way.
I just go for a few weeks before thinking maybe i need a shave. I'm not too bothered about it, considering how i fit the very definition of someone who has a neckbeard.

A complete inability to grow any kind of facial hair runs in my family, so I keep clean shaven. If I do let it grow at all it's just a horrible bum-fluff on my top lip and chin.
If I was blessed with more androgens, I'd like to grow a Clark Gable/Errol Flynn moustache. I wouldn't go for the beard, I've got quite a nice jaw-line and it would be a shame to hide it.

we should have an official .org Mustache Competition.
Always have a blackish layer due to a combination of an unsharp electric razor and some fast growing facial hair. Not that I pay much attention to it. Though, a day or two without shaving it starts to scratch and is plain annoying, so max two days withouth a shave. :whip:

I'd be totally in on that, but we'd need to start at the end of August. My summer job requires I be clean shaven. But last winter I grew a nice beard. I like to think I've got a nice jawline, so I kept it pretty short and kept my neck shaved up to almost my jawline. After that I shaved the beard except for a mustache and goatee.

I tell my wife I'm going to grow a big gay mustache if she doesn't mind me. She doesn't believe me.
So when Orgahs say "neckbeard," what do they mean, exactly? 'Cause I'm picturing this:

I have the whole mustache-and-goatee ensemble, although I don't let it get very long -- my whiskers get pretty scraggly and wild as they approach the half-inch mark. Growing a full beard doesn't work for me, as my cheek whiskers are too blonde to really show up very well (even when grown out).
@woad&fangs: You've got the color for a good full beard, but I think your face might be too narrow for one. Age seems to be a factor as well, as most of my guy friends wouldn't have looked good in a full beard until they were at least 25....and even today, only about half of us could pull it off (myself not being one of them).
I think you should grow a moustache like your avatar :clown:

I figured that a clean-shaven face looked best, but over the winter (and for exams) I've got long sideburns that I can only hope will grow into burnsides. Unfortunately, they'll probably just remain as they are. They also happen to be red, contrasting with my brown/blond hair.
I had figured that anyone who tries to grow facial hair ends up with some ugly fuzz, but it hasn't turned out all that bad actually.
I'm probably going to shave, but I'm keeping it until the good ol' Florida summer.

I have been sporting a goatee and tache combo for a good year, and in the last month I changed up to a musketeers beard, and just yesterday trimmed down for a permanend 5 o'clock shadow. Saves time actually shaving, and lets my upper lip get some sun :2thumbsup:

MSN has decided to be helpful - celebs with beard topic (http://entertainment.uk.msn.com/celebrity/PhotoGalleries/gallery.aspx?cp-documentid=8287939)
personally I only like 'natural' looking beards - not keen on goaties and anything trimmed to strange shapes :embarassed:

For some of us, though, the goatee is the only real option we have. As I stated earlier, I can't grow a full beard worth a damn, and I look ridiculous clean-shaven -- trust me.

I've got a average jawline, not too shabby, but without some sort of facial hair, I look too much like a scrawny boy, so I keep a full beard, but the only problem is, that my moustache is not half as lush as my beard and the effect that both of them give togather makes me look like too weird. So for me, it's simply oscillating between the young kid look and weird man look.
Edit : I'd love to grow a moustach like the man in my avatar, but that seems nigh impossible in this life.

In this modern age, neckbeards are generally associated with basement dwellers and 'unwashed nerds', such as one's self.
Here we can see the founder of wikipedia, Jimbo, wearing a typical neckbeard.

Now imagine that he hasn't washed for a few days and is covered in cheeto stains - that's me ;)
Nah, i only get like that when i have very little work during the week. I generally try to stay presentable if i have a busy week.

Heh. No insult was taken, don't worry. I was just trying to point out that for some of us, growing a goatee is simply the least unattractive option available (the "lesser of two evils", and all that). ~:)

Well, I've been growing all my facial hair out for about a week+1/2 now. I must say, I look pretty scruffy.
I like GH's suggestion of a Van Dyke beard. I might go with that.
@Glenn, That picture is from Christmas.
We should definately do a .Org 'tache growing contest. But I agree with CR that summer would be a bad time for it.
