View Full Version : Balance - I need more generals!!!
I finished my Teutonic campaign and the nice thing about that game was the computer offered me new generals every turn.
I'm on my Crusades campaign and for the first 30 or so turns, the computer also offered my generals. It stopped and all my generals are 50+.
I need more generals.
How can I mod it so that I get offered generals every turn? (I know how to recruit generals, but that's not the same because I want to see the stats and traits before I allow them into my kingdom.)
THe number of generals you get is related to how many provinces you own. So, if you are constantly expanding, you will have a steady stream of new generals being born or offered for adoption. If you stop expanding, the game will only give you new generals when the old ones die.

You could send some generals on "special missions" from which they will not return and thereby cull your pool: then you should start getting offered some generals.

LOL, old generals never fade ... they just go on "special missions".

I have 6 generals with 16 settlements.
The youngest guy is 49.
But they are all proven veterans.... with great stats.

MotH works the same way as adoptions. You don't get them unless the game deems you have space for more generals.

@ FH. Homefry has 16 settlements and six aging generals. I am sure there will be enough room for one or two more generals :laugh4:

As Portugal, I managed to get 21 Generals for 16 provinces.

I think that most of his generals are already married or have spent to much time in brothels making them either drunk or sex maniacs. The last thing would be a good thing but since their wives are to old doesn't give it any benefits. :laugh4:

I have yet to get a general doing that. What exactly do you need to do? I send usually a balance of 2 spear militias, 2 archer Militias and a generic calvary unit.

On my current campaign I've had many offers doing that. Some of the times, the odds were somewhat leaning in my favor others it was somewhat even odds. I just had 2 good generals in a row, smart, loyal, night fighters. Most of the bad ones I turn down. Try taking out rebels with just cavalry, seems that when you do that the computer calculate the odds to favor the rebels. I think if you get Heroic Victory and you have more province than generals, odds are you're gonna get an offer.

Any army of any size will do as long as it is led by a Captain (or by a Family member who dies in battle). You can have odds of 100:1 or 1:100 and if you win the battle and you have space for another family member, you will get Man of the Hour offered.
I used to send out captain-led armies all the time to try to get MotH. It never happened so I finally gave up trying.
Then this morning (last night? It's all a blur...) I finally got my first MotH. But not from a captain's army - rather from a family member's army when the family member died in battle. That was unexpected...
