View Full Version : Casse Invasion Question

Or... hmm - well they should be here more or less by now...
I have a very simple question;
Has anyone witnessed an invasion by the Casse yet?
There is absolutely no talk of it, and there is nothing in the Faction Progression thread either.
It was something I was looking forward to seeing..
I saw a Casse stack seemingly spawn on the coast then move onto a ship nearly every turn of my Aedui campaign. (I wonder if the script is a bit bass-ackwards)
One time it stayed for a few turns because the ship I think had spawned in a slightly different place.
I considered this gave me Casus Beli so I annihilated that stack & went on to invade & conquer the Isles of Tin.

I made a little experience in a sweboz-campaign of mine. Through forced diplomacy, I made Aedui surrender Bratosporisos to me and then I gave it to Casse. They were delighted and conquered half of Gaul in the progress.

Nice one:yes:

They're supposed to use that army to lay siege, if they instead decide to ship them back home there isn't much we can do about it unfortunately .
Well, you could not spawn a ship right there for them to hop onto?
Or do whatever it was that makes the AI really want to capture certain cities to try & encourage the Casse stack to stay around.

That won't work. The AI never does what you want just because you set up the conditions to make it so.
Easier to just use move_character to transport a Casse stack across (beef it up with create_unit too if desired). Absence of a ship will stop them just moving back to Britain again, as well.

It would be great if we could see some pics for instance as well...

I know that this is probably a controversial suggestion, but couldn't a hidden land bridge be placed from Britain to Gaul? I mean Sicily is well fought over because of its bridge to Italy and such, and that way there wouldn't be this one faction that is simply cut off...

I asked the same in the EB2 forum and "no" was the answer.

Well, that was the answer summarized to one word. The full answer was (link (https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/showthread.php?p=1914279#post1914279)). Remember, Britain was somewhat isolated from the mainland, Sicily far less so.
Anyway, what does the Casse invasion script actually do?
It seems to spawn a stack on to the channel coast of Gaul & a ship that they are supposed to have unloaded from.
I would have thought the script is supposed to show the stack unloading from the ship onto the mainland?
Would it behave better if the ship wasn't there?

Well apart from creating a problem with the game engine as in 'men don't walk on water'. And 'sides that ship is also supposed to help the AI ship troops onto the mainland all by itself. We know it's perfectly capable of such behaviour: see Carthage shipping troops to and fro Iberia all the time.

Can't the creation of the script me made conditional upon ownership of Bagacos / Bratosporios (for the first 20 turns or so; I know this will probably be the killer), and then assure via script that they get a ship, if they don't have a ship.
I never had any complaints about lack of naval invasions, although they seem to happen less frequently when they have no possessions in the area.
One time the Ptollies landed a half-stack near Korinthos, when they were already losing the war in Anatolia badly. Of course, I (Romans) was not at war with them.
I'm playing EB 1.1 on Alexander now. I've added a scripted lusitanian landing of Hybernia, as well.
Hopefully, the AI will be smart enough on Alex to actually USE these stacks. I could never get them to be used on EB 1.1 for BI.
