Stacking ships

Is there an advantage to stack dozens of ships in one sea province. The A1 seems to like it!. Does trade quadruple from that province...or what!!.

other than stacking the ships to form a battle group so you can protect your trade routes when a enemy attacks them. if you dont do this then your trade grinds to a halt and ur money supply goes into freefall and then you cant pay for your armies so you get crushed on the land and lose the game.

Another point:

You can stack the ships as many as you want but it still takes only one ship of an opposing army to blockade the sea route! That doesn't seem right to me!!
