World domination

Has anyone taken the last bit of land on the map on the last turn and not won the game for world domination. the first time campaign i played this happened and it was really annoying coz i couldnt reload anymore than one turn back from there

i usually give myself a little time to spare so this doesnt happen... say about 100yrs :-D..

actually, im over halfway to total domination in my current game, and ive been playing slowly, and it is only just 1300

Is it the case that you have to wait until 1453 regardless of whether you control the continent or not? I.e you have to deal with the reemergence of destroyed clans, rebelions and the like...I don't know this to be true as I have yet to complete the domination game.
