Isn't it true that every soldier's age in the game is tracked by the program?

If it was, you'd have generals dying wouldn't you?

I thought this was the reason for the immortal generals.

Eat Cold Steel posted at the official forum that ages are tracked for every man in the game. However, a design decision was made not to have everyone age and die since they felt a lot of player wouldn't like to see their high rank generals and high valor units dying off.

And when you consider that the game is in fact not a simulation and doesn't allow you the opportunity to use your men more than once a year, that was a good decision on their part.

that would be cool to see ones armies die like sheep...

actually the way i would see it being done would be relitivly the same, with only the general dying. But as time goes on and the other men are replaced automatically, the overall unit should loose stats, unless used a lot

To die like a sheep is to die without a fight.

Not actually a true account of how wild sheep behave but domesticated sheep tend to die pretty easily. Not about to describe the mechanics, but they are pretty docile right to the end.

What a surprise we have an Australian explaining it. http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/biggrin.gif

Now we just need a Kiwi to do the same...

BTW, Danish Crusades are true to history.

Careful Solly, everyone will be posting three times to get on the waiting list!

Aside from that, I think to have generals die of age would give the game more of a 'Live to fight' feel. You would be more inclined to build up more generals, and throw them into the fray if they were not immortal, instead of saving them for the big one! Also, your king may feature more in battles, unlike now...what is the point of building up an Uber King only to have him die of pox two years later. For this reason alone, I invest time ONLY in uber generals, 2 or 3, that won't die, no matter how many arrows get stuck in their crack brained heads!!
